I have a couple of tropes that will have to be pried from cold dead hands. I do like secret identities and I usually have one or two in any given book. But found family is my number one trope, it’s literally in every single book I’ve ever written.

Undoubtedly, most definitely, undeniably dark and brooding love interests… 😐
They’re just so amazing, you know? And even if he isn’t the love interest, he’s probably gonna be a side character.
Also, hate-to-love romances are pretty amazing.
So ya, to some it up, romance tropes are most common in my WIPs… hehe!

Elfwing replied to the topic What trope is most common in your stories? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 11 months ago
mine is so secret identity!!! I have at least two people in each book of my series; sometimes the same and sometimes new ones. Not intentionally
i love the chances for discovery and adding layers
“well… we’re like onions.”
“So… they smell?”
“Yes— no! We have layers! Onions have layers!
“Well cake has layers!

@kathleenramm Ah, farmer/shepherd meaning Cain and Abel, haha… I didn’t realise I was writing a retelling of the first murder until I was almost done. So…
Yes, reflective character arcs are so good with foils and things… Those always strengthen themes the best, I think.

thank you!
i do like those kinds of characters as well. After all, no one is perfect.
In this case it’s the villain’s fiancé/soon-to-be wife who defends him and yet criticize him. She loves him fiercely and the two are rather a funny pair, but it works XD. She’s got a quick temper and trust issues but once you have her trust,…[Read more]

I have unwittingly written many XD. I admit I automatically do that with characters. Maybe too much. I have two favorites.
The main antagonist, who I mentioned in the topic of the week, is the one I’m currently doing. I debating a few endings… but I decided on a positive character arc instead of him staying locked up in the far…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Positive character arc…what’s that…
I used to not think about character arcs but hey, now I kind of do.
I know I have some planned but the only one I can think off of the top of my head that I’ve actually written is Rainan Streamgate’s negative character arc. Which, honestly, turned into a farmer/shepherd story more than I…[Read more]

LOLLLL I definitely would steal my antagonist’s hat!!! It’s a pirate hat with a feather, jewels, and gold trimming so… even if I get slashed with a cutlass, it will totally be worth it! XD
Though I’m a little worried she might think the store is a stationary pirate ship with a TON of cargo! And she might challenge the manager to…[Read more]

Hi, everyone!!! I haven’t been on here in what seems like forever! But I’ve found myself stuck in a problem I was hoping some writers on here could help me out with!
Basically, my WIP is struggling! 🙂
So my main question is, what qualifies as a “first draft?” When writers say that, do they mean the first draft of the whole book?? Or the first…[Read more]

Telling Okdor I recognized him from somewhere but didn’t know exactly who he was would make him very miffed. Because obviously who hasn’t heard of him. The great Okdor. The warrior and conquerer. Obviously I had seen him someplace in his conquests.
And since in our world he would have no bickerment with anyone and wouldn’t have…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Haha is that your villain? Ours don’t actually sound that far apart, because that’s exactly something he’d do XD
Well, I mean, when you’re fighting a man that’s responsible for the deaths of millions… cordiality isn’t exactllly at the top of the list XD But you’re right, it would be very cruel 3:))))

Awesome topic!!!
First off, I have two villains. The POV one takes a long time to get villain-y, but the leader one was born evil.
So for the POV one, I’d do #5. It’d catch her off guard and she’s more vulnerable to truth when she’s stunned.
But for the leader one, #1: I’d call the authorities ASAP. No telling what he mig…[Read more]

I would try to steal his epic hat, but after I did so, he would probably steal my beanie baby collection, And lock me in a Cheeto factory.
But before all that, I would suggest that he buy the Bounty paper-towels over the Scott brand, because it’s the quicker-picker-upper.

@kathleenramm *spends too much time deciding which villain and also which one would be most fun*
For this guy I would give him money and then call the authorities. Not that he’s poor but maybe his world uses different currencies. I’m not sure.
I call the authorities to more quickly help him ease his burden of guilt; besides, he’s probably really…[Read more]

i am glad you could be kind to your villain… mine would be too proud to be beholden to someone he doesn’t know,

idk what I’d do though XD

Pretty good, slacking, though.
@devastate-lasting lolll mood T_T
@devastate-lasting haha biggest mood ever, my crime novel is feeling the effects of that XD
Ah, doing good! Currently trying to get out of writers’ burnout though… *sighs*
@writerlexi1216 aw, that sucks. 🙁 i’m kinda having burnout too. will pray <3 #burnoutbuddies
@scripter-of-kingdoms I’m doing good. 🙂 Been writing the first draft of my spy novel for more than a month and have about 6 or 7,000 words written. (It’s a slow process. XD)
@mkfairygirl aw, that’s awesome to hear! i’m glad it’s going well 😀 (yeah i understand, writing can be SO slow XD)
@gracie-j Yeah, but are you r e a l l y alive, or just living? XD
@gracie-j the blunt way you just… stated that… says you aren’t really…
@gracie-j *cries because this is the biggest mood ever*
@gracie-j Aww I’m sorryy, wanna hear a good joke to make you feel *more* alive? (Also for real, any time you wanna talk I’m here <3 you have my email)
I’m doing great! I’m further along in my novel than I’ve been in any other I’ve started and I’m still going strong… granted, I’m only 16,000-ish words into it, but still… All glory be to God! How’s life in your corner of the globe?
@faith-q aw, that’s great!! i’m SUPER happy to hear that!! yes and amen. <3 things are going along well! i've got a lot on my plate writing-wise at the moment, but i'm trying to take things slow and actually do some plotting + expansion of my series. thanks for asking! 🙂

Person B: Idk why?
Person A: Because the milkmaid had cold hands-
pfft… that is true… but i couldn’t come up with such a great person all on my own 😉
Kads that was smoooth XDD
@daisy-torres LOL thank you. 😉
@gracie-j Ooof okay I see. That’s rough. I’m doing the parent-taught course, where my parents just let me drive and tutor me as I go, and when I’m done and they confirm I’m a decent driver, I take an official test.
I’m doing good! Finally getting into a writing routine, (about time… XD ). Anyhow, how about you?
@abigail-m Oh, that’s good to hear! How are Meija and Filip doing? 😛 I’m doing… okay-ish, I’ve been burned out lately, what with finishing my first novel, so am trying to do some plotting for my next WIP. 🙂 Hoping to jump back into writing soon, though. Fingers crossed 🤞
Hi!:D (Very late reply, I apologize for that), Mejia and Filip are doing pretty good right now, (I mean despite a few arguments, fights, and a near-death experience), they’ve been getting along great:) XD It always makes me really happy when someone remembers my characters, so thank you for asking!!

@gracie-j *takes chocolate* Thankkss!
Oooh lovelyy ;-; How long would it take to do your courses and Driver’s ed? It sounds like you need some chocolate too XD *snaps the bar in half*
@gracie-j Oof girl! Good luck with that!! (I totally agree with you XD Reading is more fun when it gets your imagination going XD) You can do it though! I’m not sure how you will, but you will XD
@gracie-j Absolutely!!
