I’m actually struggling quite a bit right now, though I definitely don’t want to give up. I’m sorta having trouble reigniting my passion for free-writing after a very long editing sesh on my first book. I want to rewrite my second one, and I’m getting stuck even in the outline — I just want it to be so good. I know it could be…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Yes. I actually have quit writing before. I just thought I was never going to measure up as a writer on my own, since I’m always so harsh on my own work. I lose faith in it and just hate it and then delete it or abandon it entirely. That had been going on for about seven years before I tentatively stepped into writing again last…[Read more]

The Lady Sapphire

Oh dear. Peeks at random note book scribbles. Quickly hides them.
I started aÂ
fewstories that I have never finished (most of them were for school. All one needs to know right there.). The last one was about Avery, Son of the Wood – *cough*. So basically, there are two groups of people, the Plainsmen and the Wood People (they were…[Read more] -

Prose. Plots are still a struggle, and themes and characters are both a lot better but still a little hit-or-miss. My prose is still a little bare sometimes, but it’s at least much less stilted than it was then, lol.

Oof, painful topic. Can’t say I’ve had too many of these ideas, as no idea is too wild for my lil brain from when I wrote the most.
Though, when I was like, eight, my best friend and I wrote a book about two girls who got kidnapped and were rescued. That’s like, the premise of the whole thing. With a dorky happy clumsy crime-boss…[Read more]

@kathleenramm My second short story I was going to start. It was going to be about characters in a story who were going to be fighting these monsters at the end of the world, but they were kind of like actors in a movie setup with the Narrator as the director. The story would alternate between them inside the Story and their lives outside of the…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Haha! That story sounds intriguing though. I would have totally loved that when I was younger XD
Sooo, once I wrote a story about a girl that was an orphan during world war 1 (or two?). She lived in the alleys, and one day, while looking for food in the local garbage dump, she discovered a world full of fairies and tiny people that…[Read more]

Trahia the Minstrel replied to the topic Which story was the quickest to write and which was the slowest? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 3 months ago
I think my shortest time to write a novel was the first novel I ever wrote, a fan fic which I’m pretty sure took me under a year.
My longest has been my current project The Prince of WalfKlau (working title), in which it took me roughly 2 years to write the first and second book, back to back, another whole year to revise the e…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Lemme see if I can find the premise again…
There are 13 worlds. There are Magic Users. There is a question: “Why is there no happy ending for a Magic User?”
13 different installments, following so many different storylines that somehow entwine together.
This is the story of the Magic Users, and their search for a happy…

All I can say is…wow.
That is…quite a lot of words.
The quickest I ever wrote a full length novel was in Camp NaNoWriMo one year, 2018 i think, when I finished my 90k novel in three weeks. I have never done that again 😛 I think the longest I’ve been actively working on a project is about eighteen months,…[Read more]

So a person escapes the bad guys. This is a characteristic of most every book I’ve read. I’m writing a prison escape in my current WIP and am wondering how to make it something that’s not just the same old thing.
Any tips and or advice would be gladly appreciated.
I’ll tag a bunch of people.

I’m a huge rereader, so if there’s something I read in my youth and I can remember what it was called, I’ll probably reread it.
The ones that don’t stand up for me now are usually older books, like Pollyanna (while I like that Pollyanna is cheerful through a lot of bad things, personally I think she’s way too cheerful and the…[Read more]

The Boxcar Children for me. I loved those books when I was younger, but now I can see how cheesy and simplistic they are. The characters are super perfect and bland.
I did read a hilarious Goodreads review for one of them though.

Okay, y’all, I’ve got a dilemma on my hands.
To give you a bit of background information, my main character (Emeric Dertok) has recently come back into society after eight years of living the life of a hermit. He’s working for the King (Jornan), who charged him with the task of tracking down spies trying to sabotage the government. But as enters…[Read more]

Shortest was a quick three page short called “Delusionary” that was based off of a quick two line conversation someone and I had during rehearsal one day. But short stories aside, I can write 50-80k work in 40 days. But that doesn’t count, actually. Which perfectly segues me into…

Thanks! I’ll look into that:). My local library has some manga, but really it’s just some popular anime stuff, usually adapted into manga.
