Hi Kathleen,Wow! Thank you that was all so helpful!!
Okay, so I guess the ‘main theme’ would be struggling to build a new identity for herself. She has to choose who she wants to define her, whether that be living the life in high society or embracing the anew life in Christ with fellow Catholics. So family, belonging, hap…[Read more]

Themes are so neat! I love finding little hidden lessons in the books I read.
Now, adding them isn’t always quite so easy, and I know I have a long way to go before my stories properly portray their themes. (I have to write them first, for one… 😉 )
But I agree with the others: multiple themes are fantastic and best when they all work…[Read more]

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Thinking alone vs talking with others. Which gives you more story ideas? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 7 months ago
@kathleenramm Hmm I’m not used to brainstorming with others but sometimes I’ll brainstorm if I’m really really stuck, usually I prefer to get ideas from everywhere around me and letting it simmer in my head into something coherent. Maybe because I’m not used to telling other people about my ideas XD And they’ll probably not understand the end vibe I want.

yeah most of my characters are at least somwhat based off music. I have adhd and anxiety and music help, but it also helps me write too. My playlist is all over the place lol so it works well for diversity XD

@elanor I’m not entirely sure how I would classify it. I would probably say more like historical fiction in a fantasy setting, but without the fantasy element… which probably makes no sense LOL I used to write poetry, but I haven’t written any for…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Yes, definitely! There’s too many to count, haha. But a couple I can remember:
- Bird Song by Florence and the Machine
- Gasoline by Brand New, covered by Falling Up
- Daylight by Northern Abbey
I’ve tried starting some based off of them, but usually I just write down the ideas and keep it for later. Too many ideas, too little time.

Okay, so last night I got this amazing idea. At least I think it sounds amazing. But my problem is, it also sounds a bit cliche.
The problem is, I don’t get out much. Honestly, I’m pretty picky about what I read, so modern secular works are very rarely added to the list, and I am pretty clueless about what’s actually on the shelves. I know I…[Read more]

Being a sign holder might actually be a good job to get the artist juices flowing throu the brain. You world definitely have a lot of down time. (Side note: A story about a sign holder might be kinda interesting. The Sign Holder Superhero.)Sporange. . . interesting. I still don’t think my poetic powers are up for to challenge.

Elishavet Elroi replied to the topic Do your characters tend to be more extraverted or introverted? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 7 months ago
I honestly don’t exactly know, but I think they are usually like me on that respect: they are either a weak E or a weak I. In other words, a wee bit shy, but with a love for people.
Or perhaps they are in a strange position that forces them to pretend to be VERY extroverted, like walking up to a random stranger and commenting on…[Read more]

Emily_D replied to the topic Do your characters tend to be more extraverted or introverted? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 7 months ago
@kathleenramm Oooo that’s tricky. The novel I am planning for now has an introverted main character and an extroverted antagonist, which should be fun. I think when I was younger I went for more extroverted characters, but I’m looking forward to exploring introverted ones as I feel they are easier to lend to Mysterious Backstories.
