@godlyfantasy12 Thanks, and that’s a good idea!
@jodi-maile Thank you!
@trahia-the-minstrel That actually is a good idea.
@e-k-seaver There are multiple species of creatures as well as humans in the story, and they each have a different naming system. So that’s why my names are really weird.

Okay! Hi! I’ve made this topic so we can all put up the premises of our WIPs or anything else we’ve worked on in the last or are thinking of working on in the future. Hopefully we can all enjoy a huge nerd with each other about all our stories!😊
Here’s the premise I’m working on for my current novel:
A Usurper’s Heir. A True Prince. Two Families,…[Read more] -

@keilah-h You should end it the way you feel is the best — and sometimes you’ll change your mind😉. I once changed the true identity of an entire character because I decided it would be more emotionally impactful if he wasn’t related to someone else.
That said, the idea of her having to rescue her father on her own does sound interesting (I love…[Read more]

Hey everyone! Keilah here. I’m currently worldbuilding on a dystopian/sci-fi/fantasy world, and I’d like your feedback on it!
The premise I have so far (for the first book anyway, I might make it a series):
Torrent Starcatcher has had a hard life.
She was born into a universe in turmoil; the violent dictator Indy has been in control since before…

Hi, @ lydia-s !
I’m gonna jump in with lines from the favourite character in my book (he’s the best friend of one of my two protagonists):
Character name: Yusīñien Riavoné
“You can see people, M. That’s a gift. Tactics, statistics, the bigger picture … that’s what I’m good at. But you’re good at caring about individuals — all of them. That’s…[Read more]

Hi! I also struggle with turning off my inner editor when free writing, it’s one of the reasons I’m finding it so hard to write my sequel now that I’ve finished my first book. Swapping back to creative writing from conscientious editing can be really hard.
That being said, I’ve found that when I get new ideas for the story, they’re…[Read more]

Hi @jodi-maile 😁! It’s great to meet you!
My ocarina is also a Zelda-themed Ocarina of Time. It’s dark blue with the Triforce emblem on the mouthpiece guard. I think it’s epic you have a whole collection of them! Don’t you just love all the ocarina tunes from Ocarina of Time? My favourite tune to play is Song of Time, and my favourite tune to…[Read more]

Hi, nice to meet you! That’s cool that you were homeschooled. What did you go to College for?
The fantasy I’m working on right now is actually the first for me. I was writing a YA or coming of age (don’t really know where to categorize it) but it died and I really took to fantasy and more romance. I also took a break from writing…[Read more]

Welp, I’m very late to the party, but I thought I’d pop in anyway.
I think that when things like what you’re experiencing happen, drafts show their beauty. 🙂 I know with every draft of my novels/short stories, they become better. Perhaps if you tried finishing the story, taking a bit of a break, and then diving in again, you’d…[Read more]

@jodi-maile So sorry for being late, but I completely relate to you about the tone struggles, since I’m having them for one of my current works. I guess what I would say is either:
a) leave it alone for a very long time and start anew or something at some point
b) finish it, decide what you like or don’t like about it, and restart
c) leave it…[Read more]

Hey there! Although I’ve never really put my finger on it, I think I’ve struggled with a similar problem.
Here are some thoughts:
Thought #1
It sounds like what you’re saying is that you start with this dream/vision/feeling for a story, but writing it down doesn’t feel like it captures that feeling. Maybe the issue is that the fee…[Read more]
