Sounds like a fascinating story idea! I just don’t know that you can fit all that in one short story!

Katherine replied to the topic Really struggling with opening chapters… in the forum Plotting 2 years, 10 months ago
@joy-caroline Yes, definitely! My opening chapters often feel flat. I write things that happen to the characters and that I think are important, only to figure out later that it wasn’t really important or added anything to the overall story. Sometimes my opening chapters drag on, and I decide that I need to move into the plot quicker or make the…[Read more]

I’m a bit late to the party, but if I buy merch its always a hoodie, mug or notebook! Love the minimalist look, with maybe a sketch and a quote, or something like that.
I won’t be able to buy any merch, because shipping to over here is wildly expensive, so I’m sad about that. Good luck with it though!

SeekJustice replied to the topic Putting a Character where you live? XD in the forum Characters 2 years, 11 months ago
Only one! A dystopian novel I wrote is set in a futeristic version of the town where I live. I mean I really kind of destroyed my hometown and it was really quite fun.

I’m looking for blogging buddies! I recently rebooted my blog after a couple of years of really spotty posting due to…you know *gestures vaguely at the world*
But sadly it seems like most of my original blogger friends have grown up and got real adult lives (unlike me) and don’t blog anymore. Who’s out here running a blog? I’d love to get in to…[Read more]

Aayyyy, let’s go! The fact that I’ve just had all the old designs collecting dust on my laptop for like forever.😭I was just always too lazy to actually figure out how to make them sellable, hehe. Anyways, I’m looking forward to getting the shop back up and running.
Ah, the example suggestion you posted is awesome! Don’t be…[Read more]

So as you may or may not know, back in the hey day of KP, we had a shop on the site full of writing related merch.
I was thinking of bringing it back, but I have some questions:
What kind of designs would do you like?
What kind of clothes do you like?
More graphic based designs or more text-based designs?
More colorful designs or monotone…[Read more]

Hi! Welcome to the forum! It’s awesome to have you here.
Here’s just a few questions I have so we can get to know each other a bit more: (Also, I can totally relate to your commitment issue that you mentioned, haha)
Do you have a favorite book and author?
What’s the premise of your current WIP?
Also, mint chocolate chip ice-cream:…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What do you love most about your current WIP? in the forum Topic of the Week 2 years, 11 months ago
Yes! Characters and themes are usually what I get attached to most in both stories I write and read.
Forgiveness is a really great theme! And also one that I don’t see to too often in stories. Do you have a method of how you choose the themes for you stories?
Having all the pieces fall into place is…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What happened to KP Critiques? in the forum Questions and Support 2 years, 11 months ago
Hey Sam!
Yeah, KP Critiques has been put on hold. Mainly because, to put it blatantly, my sister was the one doing critiques but she moved on to other things, so we currently don’t have anyone able to critique work at the moment.
Though I do know that some people here on the forum who like to critique each others’ stories so…[Read more]

What do you love most about your current WIP? (Setting, plot, theme, characters, a particular scene, the backstory, etc.)
My 3 siblings and I have written, scrapped, and rewritten outlines for our current WIP countless times to the point where we’ve decided to pants the novel and just focus on the characters.
I think that was the best decision…[Read more]

Do you prefer simple or complex storylines?
I honestly love both. I have favorite stories that are incredibly complex and other favorites that are super simple.Though when it comes to writing, I definitely prefer simple storylines. I could say the reason is because of the commonly preached principle of doing a few things really well rather than…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic You have the ability to read a book for the first time again… in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years ago
Ooo, yeah. I feel like Harry Potter would be one of those series so many people would love to read for the first time again. Especially because it’s really nostalgic for a lot of people as well. It’d be kinda like reliving a piece of your childhood.
Narnia would be so fun to read for the first time again!…[Read more]
