@ivy-rose I live on the wet and cold side lol. Right now we’re having spurts of Sun between cold downpours of rain. 😀 Gotta love Washington weather.
Fact: They say in Washington if you don’t like the weather where you’re at then drive 30 miles and you’ll find a different type.

@ivy-rose This might help as far as determining for you: http://thestorymonger.com/writing/characters/four-ways-to-take-advantage-of-the-power-of-a-3rd-person-limited-pov/
He shows the difference pretty well between Omnicient and Limited. 🙂
Awesome! We’re running a booth, so I’ll let you know as soon as I know *cough* where it is… 😛 -

@ivy-rose In my story Princess Tess and the Perfect Story my narrator talks to Tess. She refers to Tess’s parent by the King and Queen. But if the narrator was talking to you as you read the book I would probably say something like this. “Then Tess’s parents looked out the window. I probably wouldn’t use their proper names. I don’t know if this in…[Read more]

Faith Kindred replied to the topic How fast do you read? in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 8 months ago
I think I’ll have to relate with @ivy-rose. My reading speed greatly depends on the book as well. I read way faster when it’s something I enjoy, and I guess that would make sense because you’re more interested to what happens next (obviously). Sorry about your theory, @Daeus 😛 Still, it was a good one…very well thought out. 🙂 …and just…[Read more]

Really? That’s neat. I guess there’s a lot of “farm folk” on here, huh? 😉
@sarah-h
Well, I’ve written quite a few different things…but I think fantasy/fiction novels are the most fun for me to write (although, definitely NOT the easiest…and I’ve never finished one 🙁 Sadly, I’ve picked up the bad habit of writing tons of book…[Read more] -
Kate Flournoy replied to the topic The "diversity" trend in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 9 months ago
Absolutely right @Ivy-Rose. It’s not a big deal. Skin is skin. I might even go so far as to say if we are ‘shamed’ into including minority groups when it wasn’t originally part of the story, it would hurt the story. Just like randomly inserting any story element would.
As for a good way to use diversity in a story, @wordfitlyspoken, I would say…[Read more]

@bluejay– I’ve read the Promise of Zion series, too! I forgot to mention them. Carry On, Mr. Bowditch sounds familiar. What is it about?
@daeus– Thank you! I will look for them. What is The Hidden Hand about?
@kate-flournoy – I don’t know Haggard’s motives, but he wrote like a person who was prejudiced. It’s more noticeable in King Solomon’s…[Read more]

@ivy-rose – I agree with Daeus. I like number four too. You said that your website is “Lakeside” Publications but the logo has “Lakside.” Is that meant?

Daeus replied to the topic Input on my logo please in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 10 months ago
@ivy-rose My personal favorite is number 4. I do think you should see if your designer can make the font a little bolder, but I think the basic font is fine. I also think I would prefer Lakeside Publications.
I would recommend you see if you can get a version of the logo with just the herring and reeds, since that would be better for the side of…[Read more]

Actually @Ivy-Rose I’ve never counted— I probably should. 😛
But it depends very heavily— sometimes I can’t even break past a thousand in one night, but last night, which was a fairly good night, I got 1,670. Saturdays I usually get a whole chapter down— and my chapters are really long. Like, 4,635 words. *cringe* I know. I need to trim my…[Read more]

@ivy-rose Holy smokes, the different sides of the state really do make quite a difference in temps. We’re just hanging out around 30 degrees in the daytime right now and dipping down in the 10s at night. 😛
@blue-jay That would be just fine with me! It would probably help to see in the context of the full story. 🙂 If you think it’s too long, you…[Read more]

@Ivy-Rose – It would be that in America. So when it is 30 degrees in Australia is would be like 86 in America. So because it is 5 degrees where you are is would be -15 for me. (Boy, I’m glad I’m in Aus) And yes, yes yes…why don’t you come to Australia? 😛 Just fly over and have the best holiday of your life, sweating out here, swatting flies,…[Read more]

@writefury Funny you should mention that. 🙂 We’ve gone every year for the past 5 years. I don’t think we’ve decided for certain about this year, but I highly suspect that we will go. If we do, I’ll shoot you an email and figure out a time/place to meet in that massive church. That would be so fun!!!
Awesome! 😀 My fam is actually be running a booth for an organization, so we’d probably be kind of easy to find. 😉
@writefury Perfect! That’ll give me a chance to find you admits the masses of people! 🙂 I’ll be sure to let you know if we are going or not.
