The premise is basically: Special boy and girl independently strike out from all they’ve ever known, and discover they’re needed to save what they previously left, and the future they were hoping for.(via defeating classic bad guy)
I promise, it’s not as corny as it seems in text, lol.
I haven’t really considered what made me…[Read more]

@Calidris The Mandalorian is really great. (it’s my dad’s favorite show.) So is The Bad Batch, but that one is so new I’m guessing not many people know about it (they only just finished the first season). The story does get a little slow in the middle of the show, but I think it’s to get you more acquainted with the characters.
Keeper of the Lost…[Read more]

@lydia-s Thanks! I drew her during logic class…..
@calidris I don’t know about a in a fandom, but there’s a character in the stories I make up with my brother that I would create merch for–the hunterclone (a alien-animal sort of creature my brother came up with) named Stormcloud. He’s hilarious. He was sent to guard a World Controller (a…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Oh, probably the plot. The first plot was bad. Also different character arcs.

@kathleenramm The writing process for TAD was long. VERY long. I think I spent at least two solid years on it. XD
@anatra23 Correct me if I’m wrong, but… is your pfp an ATLA screencap?
A 25-step process of how to create a TAD, Grace K-M style:
1. Read the Lumberjanes books.
2. Play Legend of Zelda and write (terrible) fanfic about it.
3.…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Weeeeelllll…. actually… all of my characters have BFLs but I’ll just talk about one character here. 😉
Bren is the protagonist of The Azure Diamond, as I’m sure a lot of you know by now. XD Her Big Fat Lie™ is that she was the cause of her older sister’s death. Her older sister, Asla Saidaas, died about four years before the…[Read more]

wow I can totally see this as a Dwayne Johnson thriller from the early 2000’s XD
It was fun to read! I like the idea of putting a kid in there. And I can totally see the sarcastic comic relief coming from Kirk at times.
Also, took me a minute, but Morse code, 10/10

I wish what you said abt your siblings and working together would apply to mine, lol. We sit down to get something done, ten minutes later, it’s a mashed potato war, and an arm wrestling match.
The feeling I felt most prominently in writing my first novel was exhaustion. I had been typing for most of the day, and around eight at…[Read more]

Anatra replied to the topic What's your character's Lie? in the forum Characters 5 years ago
Good topic(totally saw it earlier, lol). Liking the growth I can already see happening in your characters through the lies.
First lie: my character believes this one; his parents are preoccupied and can’t show him the affection he wants and needs. My character is separated from his family and tells himself these lies to justify…[Read more]

@calidris Fanfiction is most of what I do. Honestly though, it’s mostly taking characters from my favorite stories and putting them in my own situations–sending them on quests, giving them pets and/or animal guardians, marrying them to OCs (that one happens more than you might think), giving them crazy awesome superpowers…….etc. etc.

To be honest I mostly do fanfics. I do have a non-fanfiction picture book series, however. I do like LOTR, and I have both read the books and seen the movies. I’m pretty sure my true fandoms are limited to what I already mentioned, but I do greatly enjoy book series such as Keeper of the Lost Cities, The Endling (a series I just got into and love…[Read more]

@Calidris Yes, the shows are great!! Especially The Mandalorian (which is live action) and The Bad Batch (which is animated). That second one is my favorite out of the SW shows, and it’s also the newest.
The dragonmen are large creatures, sometimes the same size as humans but often a little bigger. They have the faces and bodies of humanoids, b…[Read more]

@kathleenramm It was fun. A learning experience. Terrible result, and I’m going to completely revamp it, but I’m glad I finished it, even if it took years. And after that, I could write more.

Thank you so much, I’ve worked hard on this.
I’ve been working on the series by myself for over four years now. I took a little break, and I’m taking it slowly, so I can put a lot of effort into them. They’re not too long, only abt 55k to 60k words so far. I love the way it’s going in growth. And am happy with how it’s turning out.…[Read more]
