Arabella
The leaves beneath Ara’s feet crunched. The mist around her made it difficult to make out what was in front of her, but she’d grown accustomed to strange surroundings.
This, however, was a bit new. Nothing looked familiar here. The dead leaves beneath her feet gave way stony walkways, making her steps a little more assured. High walls leered over her, narrow, claustrophobic almost.
She ran a hand over one, feeling the brick mingled with stone glide over her skin. It was rough, textured.
She always had the sense of feeling in her dreams but never this. This felt too real.
Except for the fog, and the unusual, unfamiliar surroundings. Everything that pointed to it being a dream. Or vision. Whatever she was supposed to call it.
A nightmare…
But most of her dreams were familiar-at least slightly. Everything was a bit upside down-but she always started somewhere she knew. The Garden, her bedroom, the library…
This was somewhere she’d never been. And that frightened her. But the thing that frightened her most was truly how alive her senes were. Just like the textured wall she held for balance, or the gravel she could feel beneath her slippers.
There was also an unearthly smell in the air. She couldn’t explain it-bitter and tangy. It reminded her of those with magic that still roamed her village.
She shook her head, pushing forward, until the mist wavered and she could see. Still, no familiarity in sight. Actually, it was just more stone. More walls.
And a diverging path.
Which left Ara with a choice.
And Ara did not like choices.
How long had she stood there? Pondering the directions? She wasn’t sure, but her heart sped when a small sound echoed through the walls. Through this….labyrinth.
It was soft at first, then it grew-a tinkling laugh. Maniacal almost. Unforgettable and definitely not a voice Ara knew.
Ara looked around in panic, the laughter growing, pitching downward. She gripped her dress, feet moving as she took the path on the left-praying to the True Light it was the right choice, and hoping beyond hope…this was still all a dream.

We don’t have to integrate her immediately-make it more natural and I can introduce her real quick, have her wander around. Trying to kinda figure her out myself too so might help me anyway lol! I don’t know all of your characters so I’ll get introduced as she does lol!

Arabella Fabel-Princess of A’Grend
Current Age- 15 going on 16
Personality: Reserved, thoughtful, and compassionate. Polite and respectful. Very self-critical and struggles with anxiety and feelings of imperfection. A bit of a chronic over thinker-she wants to make the right decisions but not everything is black and white and she struggles with that. Tries to avoid conflict and craves peace mentally. She has an adventurous nature and a stubborn streak but it’s buried under guilt and fear.
Appearances- Wavy brown hair that falls past her shoulder, brown, tired eyes, fair skin. Wears a loose, flowy pink dress and brown slippers. She has a purple vine like scar that starts from the underside of her wrist and goes up to her elbow.
Extra Notes- Suffers from visions that are dreamlike (more like nightmares) and can come at any moment. She struggles to sleep due to them.

I may join a role-play again on here…to see if it may help me get back into the groove of writing because I found a lot of little gems when I was roleplaying to..I won’t be on as much tho so I don’t want it to affect anyone too bad. But it was nice to see how others saw my character and portrayed them in their own Character’s povs as well.

I don’t wanna procrastinate but I do feel like I need some parts more fleshed out-maybe I can get some advice/ideas there…
right now I’m really struggling with the beginning. I know those are always the hardest, and is apt to change (and mine has many times over the course of this book’s drafts) but I feel I can’t get much done if I don’t have at least a fairly solid beginning or idea for one…and I’m struggling…
So a lot of my struggle is coming with Arabella…the reason is because Ara has mostly inner conflict. Her outside conflict comes at the inciting incident, and is more a “Oh no I have to do this before bad thing happens…have to stop it”
but even that roots back to her inner conflict. She’s very inner focused, and I’m finding that difficult for me…I think it’s because I’m struggling to actually introduce HER and HER WORLD, and her is attached before introducing all of these inner things.
November is much easier- he has inner conflict, but he has a lot of outer conflict that shapes him and his story too (bullying, prejudice, an abusive father, a crush/adoration for Ara) which helps me tie back to his inner conflict and get us invested in him
im struggling to do that for Ara who is my starting POV and MC…
Ara’s conflicts are a bit…Ara-made. They’re made by her anxiety and things she’s dealing with.
dreams/nightmares (which we later learn are actually visions), a fear of needing to be perfect despite her imperfections which stems from past mistakes, guilt from avoidance of her family and keeping them in the dark but also fear of being more imperfect if she told them what was happening.
its a lot of internal stuff. I can get some of it across outwardly-the avoidance of family, the secretness between friends, forced perfection, but it’s more difficult for me then November’s.
Especially starting…I feel disconnected from her and we don’t get a good hold on Ara like we do November.

#ProtectSebI’m also…just struggling sometimes with this book. The concept, plot, characters, etc are good. I like it…but at the same time at points it feels flat…It needs more, I already have notes for things I need to add but its a little overwhelming…
I really wanna get it to the point I feel comfortable letting someone else read it and critique it because then I get outside feedback from someone not so close…but it’s not there yet…
With this book it was kind of like… Oh man…I don’t have as many ideas how do I make this a good full book? Cuz it needs to be one!
Whereas the second one is like I have TOO MANY ideas how do I fit them all?! lol!

I’m a bit scared ngl… LOL! I have my outline! I’m gonna go in and do like…a scene dump before each scene to get my brain flowing and know what I wanna write/need to work on and write. But….oof I’m nervous lol.,
