Oh, and @emma-flournoy, I do like Enjorlas. I thought he was a brilliant addition to the book. Very brave and passionate, but level-headed, too– a perfect contrast to Marius’ absent-minded dreaminess. I was very upset (and proud of him) when he died. They took him out of the movie too. But he was in the musical, and he was probably the…[Read more]

Ah, yes, that makes sense. I was wondering how I’d show the theme since they all forgot everything. XD On that note, another question… This book is written in first person POV present tense (for various reasons), and I’m wondering if it would still work to cut from a third person/omniscient POV scene of the government right into a first…[Read more] -

Ellow,
As you probably all know, I’ve been working on publishing recently and the news at the moment is…now I’m published!
But SHHHH! Don’t tell anyone yet. The fact is I’ll probably need another week or two before I’m completely ready to let the world know about it. One of the things I want to get done first is to change the price.
I’ve…[Read more]

@everyone wait for me wait for me wait for me wait for me. I’m a bit late but man do I love this story. Everything about this story.
Judging by the little bit I skimmed previous conversations, I have this to say: @his-instrument never read the book, saw the musical though and that’s close enough. I also like Eponine better than Cosette, much…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy.
Last night was my cast party for Les Miserables and they finally announced the next show! Pray for me as I have auditions for Beauty and the Beast on Monday! *runs off to look up new monologues*
Anyway, I’d thought you’d like to know 🙂 -

@emma-Flournoy Perfect! Thank you! 🙂 I’m fairly positive I will read Les Mis. I’m just not sure if, out of all the ones I listed, I’ll read it first.

@emma-flournoy Well, ok, I took a bit of a liberty with the wording there. Often in a synopsis “will” means what will happen in the story, not that there is no way in the story it couldn’t have happened a different way. That was the intent. It could be taken either way, but I made his reaction an assumption. I mean, saying, “a long-hidden truth…[Read more]

@graciegirl Oh, boy. That’s a terrible feeling. Yeah, don’t worry a bit. I like getting your critique. It takes a lot to offend me.
As for the corrections, I’ll have to give them some more thought. At the moment, I’m considering replacing the current last sentence with, “In a twist of fate, he is forced to confront the shattering of everything he…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy, we had the lullaby worked in so Fantine sings it as she is daydreaming about little Cosette before she dies, then the little girl who played the young Cosette sang it right before she met Valjean in the woods, and then I was up in a window singing it and unbeknownst to me, Marius was listening underneath, and then the last time was…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Hmm. Do you think I should make it just bittersweetness?
-
Christine Eaton replied to the topic Let's talk about Jean Valjean. in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
@emma-flournoy, if it is any consolation we didn’t do the musical, but I did end up singing a lullaby twice onstage so there was singing involved. 🙂 Also, that very last scene rips my heart out every time. So many emotions.

Ok, I’m back.
@kate-flournoy @emma-flournoy @northerner @hope @winter-rose @graciegirl.
So what do you think of lingering bittersweetness?
Also, instead of saying, “forced to confront everything he fights for shattered,” do you think it would be better to say, “forced to confront everything he fights for ruined”?

Wheee-haw!!! I’ll be praying, and tell me who you get! So exciting.
Is this some kind of famous play or musical, or is it something this college or whatever put together specifically?
I’ll keep you updated for sure! I’m so excited. It’s going to be put on with the same group I did Les Miserables with, Alethia Christian Theater, and it consists of high school and college students. It’s not the Disney version or the musical and I think they are going full Hans Christian Anderson Version. The cool thing is the directors for this…[Read more]
