…wow.
There’s a lot here, so I’ll analyze it a bit later (when I have time), but thank you so much for this, Daeus! I’ll get back to you soon, and once I plan out the story (and where exactly the gospel elements fall in it) a bit more, I’d love to get your take on different parts and pieces of it, if that’s okay?
Thanks again. @daeus

Hi friends,
@that_writer_girl_99 asked me how I include the gospel in my stories without sounding cheesy. I figured I’d share my thoughts publically here so we can all participate in this discussion.
First of all, let me point out that this isn’t a dissection of the large topic of theme — this is just one part of that. Theme is about more than…[Read more]

@Celticcailin heyy so yes I do songwriting and composition and play half a dozen musical instruments and study musical theory. If you want me to check out lyrics and/or melody or whatever, feel free to add me to the email. 😉 I’d have to look over the song before I could give you much useful feedback though.…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Outlining – Love It or Hate It? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 7 months ago
I use K.M.Wieland’s outlining system for outlining my novel. I only do basic outlines of chapters when I come to them. I also keep a long bullet list of random ideas for my story and many of these ideas end up getting woven into the plot.

I love outlining (or, at least I love how it works for me) and I don’t think I know anybody who has tried outlining and been disappointed by it. I also know a couple people who have tried outlining and been happy they did.
At the same time, I don’t recommend outlining everything. Your story needs room to evolve. If you outline too deeply, you’ll…[Read more]

@gh24682468999 I use a character questionnaire sheet I made up that used to be on KP and is currently on the Story Embers site. For me, a lot of a character has to do with asking enough questions about them to boil them down to three central qualities about who they are as a person. Once I have a set core for the character, it’s easier for me to…[Read more]

Hey there! I’m a little late to the party…sorry about that!
I’ll be everyone has already asked you the cool questions, too…ugh.

hey there! Glad you could join us.
Most people ’round here think of nice, book related questions to ask, but here’s a few generic ones…
Favorite color?
Left-handed or right-handed?
Do you play an instrument?
Welcome to KP!

*sighs*
I hate to say it, but I think your friend was right.
It’s not a bad thing, necessarily. The chapter introduced the family dynamic, and introduces a few things that will (obviously) come into play later in the story, but it doesn’t have a whole lot of oomph–by which I mean, something that draws the reader into the story. There’s…[Read more]

Hi! I popped in and read this too, just ’cause I was curious. Hope that’s okay.
Overall, it’s really good so far! I’m just a bit confused as to whose POV you’re using to tell the story? At times, it seems as if it’s being narrated by someone altogether different from the characters in the scene, which is kind of disorienting.
Other than that,…[Read more]

Hey @valtmy, I’d also like to point out that google docs does have a feature you can set the doc to that allows you to pick and choose who has access to your doc based on their email, so if you wanted to do it that way, you could.
-
Daeus replied to the topic Private Messaging in the forum Questions and Support 6 years, 7 months ago
@valtmy You can public message a few people and then share the doc directly with them.

Alright, here’s how my crazy idea will work if you’re willing to join on. Basically, I want to hire you as a short term ambassador for me.

@daeus Okay! That makes sense! (Is this where I ask the questions, or do I email you?)
So I’m looking on your link. Basically when people push it does it automatically sign them up for your newsletter?

You’re correct that when someone signs up for the book, they are subscribed. (Fyi, the newsletter goes out about once a month.)

@daeus Oh, wow, thanks! I’ve already sent out the link to a couple friends and family… 😉 Or is it too early for that? o.o

Yeah, you can get started now and you have the right idea with the signup sheet. Just two columns with the name and email.

Hmm. Maybe a browser issue? I just tried it and it worked for me.
Hi @dekreel,
I wanted to check in and see how things are going.
I saw one person signed up through your link so far. Great job!!!
