Noo! XD At least, I don’t think so. 🤔😉

By the way, this article isn’t (or maybe it is) about psychological suffering, but since I’m pretty sure it’s point is what you’re intending in your stories, I’ll share it. It definitely changed the way I think of pain.
And it’s hilarious, so you know. Thought you’d enjoy. 😉

November 22, 2024 at 2:45 pm in reply to: The Veil of Night– second book in The Flames of Hope Saga #190343Ok, I will say that I enjoyed how it was carried off in this section. I agree with what @linus-smallprint said about that. It reminded me of The Healer by Dee Henderson. (A book about facing the grief of a broken world.) Very good.
What I say is redundant is the fact that it feels like more characters are dying than those who are escaping. It’s discouraging, which I understand is probably part of your set up. However, I wanted to say that there’s a fine line between “all is lost” and “here we go again”. I’m no longer surprised when a character is taken/died. In fact, I was expecting it any time now. That’s not good.

Why shouldn’t you kill them? Well, because it’s getting redundant. I love your story and your characters. The setting has a unique feel of its own and the characters are compelling to say the least. However, unless you have a brand-new absolutely unseen point to make with more death, it may not be the best decision. It’s like using the same description or plot twist three times in the one chapter. By saving someone instead of martyring them, you can keep your audience in suspense because literally anything could happen. Hope is a better enticer than dread.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. Use it as you like. I hope Joseph gets a few more hugs and Asher and Eric fulfil their character arcs splendidly.

November 15, 2024 at 5:32 pm in reply to: The Veil of Night– second book in The Flames of Hope Saga #189987Not sure. Maybe because he’s a guardian type, protecting his younger brother. Maybe because he reminds me of a centurion, and I always loved the centurions in the Bible. He doesn’t understand everything, but he has a strong sense of honor.

Lisa was looking for that. You don’t want her looking for you instead!

Oooo, nice story, Ellette. I like Julian.

I will post a character aesthetic, though. It has a bit of the backstory woven in, so I won’t be specific, but see if you can guess who it is! (I say like it’s not painfully obvious.) Whoever gets it right gets an imaginary plushie of this character OR his horse!

Mae Govannen! Thank ya’ll for your feedback. And I will especially thank you for tactfully reminding me to post the extra that fateful Thursday.
As we all know, the extra was not posted.
Fear not, nevertheless! Although we have not posted chapters, we have been writing them. And seriously rearranging the plot, which has meant filling plot holes and scrapping what you would have gotten that Thursday Past. (Spoiler: Next chapter includes *catalyst*)
One day there shall be a chapter posted. One day soon, in fact.
This is not that day.

Oh! I love hearing about your progress. This is so exciting!
The aesthetics are exquisite! I love all the little peoples in them. They really show Riker’s tender heart.
Hans will forever be “a cold sore on the lip of life” like Anne Shirley puts it, but hey, what makes a better villain? I agree that he’s not flat, (dare I say, that he has grown from a flat idea that you had a few years ago to the complex character today.) but since we aren’t supposed to like him, I feel no obligation. =D
Once again, beautiful aesthetics! I’m looking forward to this next part in Riker’s story.

Oh boy. Ok, this will be fun.
I’m honestly tempted to do a story from my WIP’s legendarium. We’ll see…

YesYesYesYesYes!
My sister and I reverted to eleven year-olds the moment we found out. The amount of happy dances since then has been Citadel of Dreams worthy.
We have effectively spread the Natalian infection to multiple people in our church, and hopefully this next book will bring more loyalties. I feel like a Seventh Districter. XD
I need to change my profile pic back to a Green Ember character to celebrate, but I’m not sure whom…

Yay! Congratulations, @ellette-giselle !
This has been so much fun. If we do it again, count me in!
