November 15, 2024 at 5:32 pm in reply to: The Veil of Night– second book in The Flames of Hope Saga #189987Not sure. Maybe because he’s a guardian type, protecting his younger brother. Maybe because he reminds me of a centurion, and I always loved the centurions in the Bible. He doesn’t understand everything, but he has a strong sense of honor.

Lisa was looking for that. You don’t want her looking for you instead!

Oooo, nice story, Ellette. I like Julian.

I will post a character aesthetic, though. It has a bit of the backstory woven in, so I won’t be specific, but see if you can guess who it is! (I say like it’s not painfully obvious.) Whoever gets it right gets an imaginary plushie of this character OR his horse!

Mae Govannen! Thank ya’ll for your feedback. And I will especially thank you for tactfully reminding me to post the extra that fateful Thursday.
As we all know, the extra was not posted.
Fear not, nevertheless! Although we have not posted chapters, we have been writing them. And seriously rearranging the plot, which has meant filling plot holes and scrapping what you would have gotten that Thursday Past. (Spoiler: Next chapter includes *catalyst*)
One day there shall be a chapter posted. One day soon, in fact.
This is not that day.

Oh! I love hearing about your progress. This is so exciting!
The aesthetics are exquisite! I love all the little peoples in them. They really show Riker’s tender heart.
Hans will forever be “a cold sore on the lip of life” like Anne Shirley puts it, but hey, what makes a better villain? I agree that he’s not flat, (dare I say, that he has grown from a flat idea that you had a few years ago to the complex character today.) but since we aren’t supposed to like him, I feel no obligation. =D
Once again, beautiful aesthetics! I’m looking forward to this next part in Riker’s story.

Oh boy. Ok, this will be fun.
I’m honestly tempted to do a story from my WIP’s legendarium. We’ll see…

YesYesYesYesYes!
My sister and I reverted to eleven year-olds the moment we found out. The amount of happy dances since then has been Citadel of Dreams worthy.
We have effectively spread the Natalian infection to multiple people in our church, and hopefully this next book will bring more loyalties. I feel like a Seventh Districter. XD
I need to change my profile pic back to a Green Ember character to celebrate, but I’m not sure whom…

Yay! Congratulations, @ellette-giselle !
This has been so much fun. If we do it again, count me in!

Yay! Whenever I put symbolism in a story I end up awkwardly trying to figure out if people caught it without giving it away. For further clarification, look up the two flowers mentioned.
And we definitely need more fabulous books for young people!

That sounds like a lot of fun! It’s a theme both Middle Grade and YA could need, so you can absolutely write it for both. I’m technically a young adult and I like animal stories.
And yes, Yigal was military. There’s a lot of flower/name symbolism in the story… did you catch it?
In the words of Calvin, that was STUPENDOUS. I laughed. I cringed. I laughed again.
Unfortunately, I have a head cold/mystery cough, so just about the time Squidgy was running around everywhere, I was choking on slime. Not your fault, but I sympathized with Sarah.

Oof, that’s ok. 🙂 Hope you feel better soon!
