In Which Trees are Dangerous, and Aenwest Considers Doubles
Chapter 7
The closer we got to the Dell, the more tangled the trees became. It should have been much like the woods around Multnomah Falls, WA, but years ago, as I told Dwogin when he tripped over an exposed root, the Rangers had planted saplings between the older trees and woven them…[Read more]

Some days we kinda forget,
Some WIPS will never go on.
Gotta get the rest of it done,
All the way to the Silver Star.
(Far away, through writer’s block so bold.)
*cough cough*
Although it’s been neglected, it has not been abandoned. We have another chapter!

Jaybird replied to the topic Help on writing an impactful last day in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year, 4 months ago
Like the others said, that depends on your characters. (They had some great advice.)
I think it would also depend on how expected/tragic the death was. While doesn’t necessarily lessen grief, it makes a lot of difference in how one processes it. (I think. Not an expert.) In some ways it would be worse, especially if they were…[Read more]

Squirrelies! I love the fluffies. They are very intelligent. Unimaginative people completely discredit them. I think some of your rogue squirrels are running a gang in our town. XD The initiation rites include darting between the wheels of a car.
(@rae You definitely tagged the right people. 🙂 )
As for feedback, the idea is…[Read more]

Jaybird replied to the topic What are your most influential childhood books? in the forum Topic of the Week 1 year, 5 months ago
Most influential so the ones I still remember. XD That simplifies things.
I grew up listening to the Focus on the Family Radio Theater rendition of the Chronicles of Narnia, and read the books when I was about 9-ish. They really shaped my love for story, and even how I viewed God. They’re a story that grows with you as you grow…[Read more]

oh nar!!! *chews lip*
I was so nervous reading that. XD Things are not looking good for November or Ara.
I think my heart literally stopped when Callan showed up. I had to escape the forum for a moment before coming back to finish reading it. XD *shudders* Once more, fantastic villains. I loathe their guts.

Poor Hugo! Save him, Marcel!
Probably a good thing you moved Viktor on. I think he’d either die from shock, or by attacking the thing with his pocket knife. As it is, he’d feel terrible for leaving Hugo in that situation, but it’s for the best. XD

I’ll try to find that article… I think it was in Jstor…

Yay! I was enjoying TPE. (says the person who hasn’t really commented on that thread. Sorry.)
The song list is very comprehensive. I am in mild awe. I’ll have to listen in on it a bit.

Jaybird replied to the topic Character Songs/Playlists! in the forum Music 1 year, 5 months ago
Oo. I’ll have to look at those.
Right now I’m listening to my happy music. XD Which today, is apparently Slava Lui (by Alin Si Emima) and Hineh Ma Tov (by James Wilson). lol.
If I made a playlist describing myself, it would be so convoluted.

Ok. The problem with Bubble Wrap is that it’s kinda single time use. Two or three good hits in a fight and several spots will be very thin. A good gambeson would basically be multi-use bubble wrap. The popping sound could be fun though.

I’d have to look again, but while studying for an essay a year ago, I did find some documentation/studies on children displaced by the Blitz, if that would be helpful.
It’s the reason Viktor now spends part of his child nonverbal, and reenacts a lot of stuff in his play for about a year. (Throws his sister’s doll into the kitchen…[Read more]

Soccer is fun. I always understood kickball more, but I have a friend who was a goalie for years. It’s very much a thing in Hispanic culture, so we see a lot of it.
I’m personally not super sporty. I live in college football country, but it’s possibly my least favorite sport. I like badminton though, and pingpong, and kinda…[Read more]

Retro/historical anything is pretty splendid. XD
My most recent book research went like this:
Bionic lungs
Underwater smoke bombs
Infrared contact lenses
Memory blocking drugs
I obviously was reviewing a spy school idea. Before that it was a stereotypes about Londoners and Scottish slang phrases. Although, I think the most…[Read more]

I would not probably join another form of social media. It’s one thing if it’s a closed forum, which would be fantastic, and which I wouldn’t mind paying a small fee to help support. (Small, as in up to $50 a year.) I don’t know much about other media, except that I don’t love it.
