Linyang Zhang replied to the topic End of Year Book Party! in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 3 months ago
@trahia-the-minstrel Hm… Well, pretty much everything I can think of has swearing in it, so I’m afraid not a lot of my reccs will be completely clean. Yotsuba&! is one of my favorite wholesome slice-of-life mangas with no anime adaption, about a little girl, so it should be enjoyable for adults, and probably for kids as well. Other than that,…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Don’t feel bad, I can hardly read anything besides manga now. But for the sake of this discussion I’ll leave manga out of it.

@avacoulter I literally just watched Markiplier try aerial silks, haha. It looks really cool!

@annabelle I have a younger sister, but that’s it, haha.

@annabelle Yess, plus with pen and paper it’s more transportable.
Wow, that’s a lot of siblings! Are you the oldest or…?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Hello!! in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@annabelle Oh, nice! I was homeschooled as well. And I still hand write a lot of things, for some reason.
It sounds like you guys make a good team! How many siblings do you have?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter Sounds like maybe you’re up for a novellette or novella, haha.
What other things are you into?
-
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Hello!! in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@annabelle Well, I am pretty old, so it matches up in proportion XD
Wow, does your whole family do writing-related activities?

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Hello!! in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@annabelle Nice, nice! I’ve been playing piano for almost thirteen years now, and my teacher assigns me classical music, but I like playing pretty songs I hear.
Do you have any other projects you’re working on, (or plan to work on) after Identity?
-
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Hello!! in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@annabelle Heyy and welcome to the Kingdom! I’m Linyang, though most here call me Lin. Nice to meet you!
Identity sounds fascinating! Are you going to be self-publishing it?
I also play piano! How long have you been playing?

@avacoulter I’ve written/am working on a ton of projects right now, short stories, web fiction, novels, novellas… I like short stories because they’re quick and you can have instant satisfaction of finishing them, but also I tend to only write short story beginnings and nothing else, which is annoying on my part, haha.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter Yeah, I agree, there is a balance to find.
Do you write a lot of short stories or have you just been working on this main project?
-
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter Nice, nice! I like watching where my characters take me (since I’m a pantser too) but I think I like writing the ending most. It’s very satisfying, and also kinda bittersweet.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic What's something you wish you knew when you first started writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 4 months ago
@kathleenramm I wish I knew that typing was more efficient than handwriting.
Thanks to choices my 12 year old self made, I am still handwriting a certain story to this day.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter It’s probably the farthest I’ve gotten in a novel, actually, heh. I’m looking forward to writing the ending.
What do you like most about the writing process?
-
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter Oo, interesting! Dystopian stories are always fun.
One of my current projects is about a guy named Joey who works at an antique store, time, wings, existence, and memory. It’s a weird kind of story so I feel like a premise wouldn’t encapsulate it enough. It’s basically inspired by things and people I saw throughout summer.

@avacoulter Hm, I’ve written so many, it’s hard to choose a favorite, haha. Do you have a premise for your current WIP?
-
Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Heyyy in the forum Start HERE 3 years, 4 months ago
@avacoulter Fair, fair, haha. Any favorite stories you’ve written so far?
-

@avacoulter Hoi, welcome! I’m Lin, always dabbling in a variety genres, like crime/fantasy and other things.
It’s been so long since I’ve commented on any of the intro threads, haha. Anything in particular you wish to share?
