Yeah, I can explain. 😛 As you can see, my sister actually was thinking of it because of Mary Poppins, which is definitely British, not Australian. (Though it was written by Americans. But it’s set in England. I’m also assuming you know what Mary Poppins is… 😉 ) So, she was thinking of “bloke” as related to British slang.
I th…[Read more]

Sort of like the Brigadoon clips we were watching back when I first told you about it, I guess? Ah, I see. 😛 I guess that would be less funny.
Oh, okay. How many languages are you able to read/hear with reasonable clarity?
Great, well, I’ll give it a listen sometime and let you know if I find it as depressing as you do. :…[Read more]

Oh, I see. I do like watching backstage videos, or “the making of ____” videos. 😉 I find it quite hard to listen to Koreans try to sing in English without laughing, though.
It would have to be that one for me, because I would have no way of understanding the French version. 😛 (Do you listen to any French musicals? I know yo…[Read more]

She says she actually had the word in her head because our littlest sister is crazy about Mary Poppins and has been playing the soundtrack nonstop for weeks now. In “Chim Chim Cher-ee” a lyric goes “In this whole wide world there’s no happier bloke.” But I guess my brother thought of Australia first, even though the British use t…[Read more]

@seekjustice Are all the musicals that you watch on DVDs? You said you were watching ATOTC the other day, and I assumed you were watching it online for some reason. Probably because my brother usually finds most of the stuff we watch on Amazon Prime or Netflix or something like that, because it’s cheaper, so I’m more used to it than DVDs n…[Read more]

@seekjustice I found it on Netflix. 🙂 I liked it very much. I think I liked Jeremy Jordan better as Jack than whoever played him at the live version I saw, but I liked the other Crutchie better than the Broadway Crutchie. So I guess it was about even: I liked some parts of this one better, and some parts of the other one better. They did a r…[Read more]

@seekjustice I just watched the Newsies original Broadway version with Jeremy Jordan. 😀 😀 (I’d seen one or two short clips before, but never the whole thing.)

Oh, that sounds like a great channel! What’s it called?
I think yesterday you asked something about a fizz thing, and whether we had it in America. I can’t answer for all Americans on this one, but I’ve never heard of it. What is it?
I’ve got to go to sleep. 😉 It’s nearly 2:00 a.m. Talk to you later!

@f5a8c3e92 Another Australian! I see @seekjustice has found this topic. She’s our most frequent Australian person here, though there are a couple others who show up now and then.
I thought you must be from somewhere other than the U.S. because you said you were going to “uni” which is something we never say here. 😛 Accents can show up even th…[Read more]

@seekjustice Shaw intended Eliza to get angry with Higgins and leave him, going off on her own to take care of herself (and possibly marry Fred). I like that ending because Higgins was incredibly rude to her throughout the whole thing and acted like he was the only one who worked hard for the change in Eliza, ignoring the fact that she worked…[Read more]

@seekjustice 😛 Yeah, well, I like the concept, and I love the music. It’s just the ending that ruins it for me. But, I’ve just been reading about Pygmalion, and apparently Shaw intended to have the ending that I would have liked, so I can like that about it, knowing that it was intended to be the way I liked, and people just had to put the r…[Read more]

@seekjustice Haha, that does sound worrisome. I watched a YouTube video today where someone was talking about how movie “happy endings” leave out a lot of stuff like how the people are going to go back to their normal lives after living through all the things that happen to them in the movies. 😛
Ok. There’s no hurry. 🙂
I was listening to My…[Read more]

@seekjustice My post got deleted, and I’m reposting. 🙂
For some reason my sister and I love the word “commiserate”. I am not sure why. …random fact. 😛
It is very strange. I’ll have to look up the etymology some time.
Okay, I’ll send it to you and you can read it whenever you want.

@seekjustice Yeah, me too.
I see. That is something billions of people have done over the course of the millennia, so you are not alone. 😉 (Have you ever thought it weird that “millennium” means “a thousand years” instead of “a million years”?)

@seekjustice We Easterners pronounce it the same way. It’s funny, but the Westerners pronounce it the way it’s spelled according to the “official” rules of English, meaning, the “e” is silent, and is relevant only to tell you what sound to give the “o”. It’s pronounced “Kai-oat”.
So if an actor in an American Western pronounces it the way you w…[Read more]

I’m back! I dropped out for family worship.
@catwing Thanks. 😛 I’ll take a look. By the way, that thing about “not the ship we wanted, but the ship we needed,” isn’t that a parody of a quote from a Batman movie? (no idea which one. 😉 I’ve just heard the quote before…on Studio C, I think)

@seekjustice I’m sorry, who would love whom? Are you still referring to Justice and Alex, or someone else? You wrote in the plural… 😉
Oh, I love those clips! I think it’s pretty cool that they had a Bible verse in the second one too. Is that something that’s in the book or not?
