I just going to ask if you were related to her. I didn’t know she had any sisters. Yes it is a small world.

@bluejayI went to the Australia Creation Super Camp last month. We had a real live fluvial geomorphologist speaking there. He had a story about how he was on the upper Amazon and accidentally crossed the border from Peru to Equador and got caught. Then when they were escaping someone fell out of the boat. It was dark, but they had a torch. Then we…[Read more]

I talk to myself. Or imaginary people who never talk back. I think about the conversations I might have if there was another person around. And if I think about it too much I end up talking about how I talk to myself about talking to myself. But I almost never do it audibly.

I just realized I know nothing about my characters noses. They do have them of course, I may have even mentioned the existence of a nose a few times, but what they are like nobody knows.

I need that. Thoughts start going. How different could the story go if so and so was bad.
Everybody lives above the ground, but it isn’t steampunk.

The aliens have to be super intelligent if they created us. And that is actually what some people believe. But, who made the aliens?
The hero is the princess’s cousin. A good stepfather or stepmother.

I’m not 100% percent sure that anyone dies in mine.
The villain lives in a treehouse, a hero who is ugly, a world without metal, a villain who is obsessed with books.

For me, I know it’s bad and I’ll have to try and fix it up later. I need need someone else’s opinion to convince me my first draft is terrible. But then I have had it confirmed when I read that every first draft is bad. And then it doesn’t bother me.

Two good bits of advice there. I can see a lot of the problems in my writing though. It’s particularly when you think it’s alright that you need someone to tell you what’s wrong with it.

I’ve used ywriter. It’s not got as much functionality as scrivener, but it’s free. I haven’t used it much though, since I’m writing by hand. I got the scrivener free trial and I’ve only looked at it a couple of times. Probably because I don’t want it to run out, but then it’s not much use just sitting there.

And people who aren’t teens anymore. I’m not yet, but I know we have some people over 20.

The first story I worked on had dashing young henchmen. (I didn’t write more than a few pages from random spots though.)
A reigning queen who isn’t evil.
A prince who is evil. -

@bluejay I don’t mind at all. My thought was that she is controlling the world from there. She has little birdies for minions.
Evil elven queen.
An old man hero with a girl for a mentor.

Hey Tessa,
I live just a bit north of Canberra.
I keep forgetting it’s Australia Day. It’s not hot enough.I was never good at short stories. Didn’t realize that my daydreams were good grounds for ideas and tried to write about birds nesting under the house or some boring topic.

The idea keeps making me think of creepy creatures that only come out during the full moon.
Another odd fact. I first started my writing in second person. It was going to be choose-your-own-adventure style. It’s not actually too dreadful. I could swap it into first person easily and it would be better than all the other first attempts I made back…[Read more]
