Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 10:29 pm #74834Hey, I was wondering if you would do a favour for me? You’ve given me some invaluable feedback on Stars Fill Infinity but would you mind filling out the questions at the end of the second book? Just so I can get some more indepth thoughts on that one as well? Thanks!
Anyone around?

July 9, 2018 at 10:32 pm #74835@seekjustice, Hey, I’m here for the moment. But I might be popping in and out. I’m about to go clean a bathroom.
oh, and really? Zac? let me guess, Quillon dies in book 3?
(Zac’s death was better than Jonas’ in my opinion with how it was written. it felt more personal)

Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 10:37 pm #74836I would never, never, never kill Quillon. You have my word. He is the only safe character.
I did that on purpose (making Jonas’ death more impersonal). Death in war is not often a particularly personal thing, especially in trench warfare, and Chessy had also got to the point where she was overwhelmed and had to stop herself from caring so that she didn’t break down. Whereas I wanted absolutely everyone and their dog to cry for Zac.

July 9, 2018 at 10:40 pm #74837@seekjustice, uh huh, I’m holding you to that
Thats what I thought. I actually can’t remember if you even showed us Jonas’ death scene of if we just found out when Chessy (or Justice) did.
Oh, and I would have cried, but every time I started getting emotionally involved I kept getting called away until the tears were gone.

Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 10:40 pm #74838@seekjustice Hey, I’m here for a while. I’ll drop out in a bit for family worship, but I’m here now and I’ll be back after that. 😉 (Our guests left this morning…well, some of them… 😛 )
@alia Don’t worry, I doubt she’ll ever kill Quillon, Chessy, or Justice. Well, I’m not completely sure about Justice. 😛 She won’t kill Chessy because that’s her main main character, and she won’t kill Quillon because she loves him too much.Would that she had loved Zac better. 🙁
Oh, and my favorite death out of both books is Waif’s. Oh, I probably shouldn’t say favorite death, because I’m not rejoicing that Waif died. I just mean I liked the way it was written, of course!

July 9, 2018 at 10:44 pm #74839@rochellaine, I don’t know. If she is willing to kill someone as wonderful as Jonas I think she is capable of anything…

Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 10:45 pm #74840@seekjustice I have a confession. I didn’t actually cry at Zac’s death.
Partly it was because, like @alia said, I kept getting called away and when I finally got to the end I wasn’t immersed in the story as I should have been. The other reason was probably because I already knew he would die, and he died in the exact same way and sequence as Sydney died in the original story. (Or, the film, at least. 😛 ) So there was no shock, there was no sudden sadness. My head felt sad, but my heart didn’t break like it did in the first book.
I really wish you had refrained from recommending the Tale of Two Cities film until I’d read the book, since I believe I would have enjoyed it much more in that case. 😉

July 9, 2018 at 10:48 pm #74841@alia Well, you see, she didn’t love Jonas as much as she loved Quillon. I love Jonas better than Quillon, and Zac better than Justice, but she’s chosen Quillon as her favorite, and none of the other men mean nearly as much to her as Quillon does.
I am in complete agreement with you, but if the author loves Quillon, the author must be allowed to love Quillon. And the readers must simply weep and try to bear it as she kills off the many more qualified male characters while keeping her poor, sweet Quillon alive.
@seekjustice 😛 this is what you have done to us 😛"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 9, 2018 at 10:50 pm #74842I don’t mind being held accountable to you who are on the other side of the world, because I’m already accountable to my sister for Quillon and she’s in the same bedroom. If Quillon dies, I die too. 😀
I fluctuate between adoring Justice and absolutely hating him. He could possibly die if I’m in a bad mood.
And no, Chessy won’t die either.
I’m not sure if I should tell you this, but the original twist I came up with at the end of When Infinity is Empty is that Justice would die for Zac, but in the end I decided no for a bunch of reasons, after literally writing a pros and cons list.
And Alia, Jonas didn’t have a death scene, no. Chessy just found him dead, I think.
I don’t know what it is about Quillon, but I just latched onto him and he got blessed with every good thing (Sapphire was originally supposed to fall in love with Chandler), and Quillon was never supposed to have a POV but he gets one in the third book and he gets to look after Kai. Basically, his life is better than everyone elses.

July 9, 2018 at 10:53 pm #74843@seekjustice, @rochellaine, I have to say, I liked Zac a lot better than Justice from the beginning. I mean, I knew he was going to turn out better, but even before he did I could see that he was acting the way he was as protection against getting hurt. Which made him opening up to Chessy so easily and quickly a bit confusing.
Justice was confusing because in book one he was all think with your head and book two it was mostly think with your heart. I guess he was an open book and I didn’t identify with him that much.

Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 10:57 pm #74844@seekjustice, @rochellaine, doesn’t the song Proud of Your Boy from Aladdin kinda reflect both Justice and Zac during the bar fight? not completely, but somewhat?
(it probably doesn’t but I’m listening to that broadway right now and that song just came on and so that thought lept into my brain)

Kapeefer til we're old and greyJuly 9, 2018 at 11:05 pm #74847Zac and Justice are both confusing full stop.
In some ways, I identified with Justice much more in the first book, but I’ll admit that I don’t really like his character in the second. I think he was just too different to the Justice we’d come to know in the first book and he kind of spiralled out of control.
Yeah, I think it does! Especially the “I wasn’t born perfect like Dad or you” line, which sums them both up very well.
