Hey. Any of you still around?
June 29, 2018 at 9:05 pm #74605@seekjustice @valtmy @jenwriter17 @alia Are any of you around tonight?

June 29, 2018 at 9:09 pm #74606Why, yes, I am indeed. What are you up to?

June 29, 2018 at 9:18 pm #74607@seekjustice Hello!ย I’ve been singing “What a Comforting Thing to Know” all day. ๐
I’m working on my western.ย I would assume you’re editing Stars? ๐
Are you doing the July Camp NaNoWriMo?ย I remember you talking about it, but can’t think of what you would actually work on if you did, since you’re mostly editing and planning your projects right now.
I’ll only be on for a little bit right now, but hopefully will be on longer later tonight.

June 29, 2018 at 9:28 pm #74608I haven’t listened to that in ages! I feel I need to rectify that at the next given opportunity.
Currently I’m proofing the short story version and another little story of mine which is being published in a book. (eep!!!)
And yep, I’m doing it, but I’m working on a few short stories for competitions and I’m setting my goal quite low so that I can continue editingย Stars.
I’ve got a lot of things to do today, so I’ll probably be on most of the day ๐

June 29, 2018 at 9:35 pm #74609@seekjustice Yes, you certainly must! ๐ What’s your favorite song from it?ย I remember you said you didn’t like “Why Can’t I be Two People,” because you think it sounds kind of bratty.
What story?????ย Have I read it?ย If not, can I??ย If not, whyyyyy?? ๐
Haha, you say you’re setting your goal “quite low,” but it’ll still probably be about the same or higher than mine, given the length of your usual goals. ๐ ๐ย I’m going to try to do it better this time.ย I think I’ll have more time to work on it this month, so…we’ll see how it turns out.
Nice.ย I’m going to be in and out right now and my replies could be either really fast or really far between for a little bit.ย We don’t have any guests tonight so I shouldn’t be quite as tired and might stay up for longer like I used to.

June 29, 2018 at 9:47 pm #74610I think I like ‘What a Comforting Thing to Know’ best, just because its funny, but I also like…um, what’s it called. ‘Tell Him Anything’? and I do like “Position and Positioning’, even though it gets on your nerves about two minutes in ๐
Uh, probably you haven’t. Its this oneย
Well, originally I set it at 30hrs, but I’m considering bringing it down to 20hrs. Maybe even fifteen ๐
Okey dokey then ๐

June 29, 2018 at 10:16 pm #74611@seekjustice I also like “What a Comforting Thing to Know” and “Tell Him Anything” best.ย My brother’s favorite is “What has Love Got to Do with Getting Married?” ๐ย Yes, “Position and Positioning” is great for a bit, but can get annoying after a while, haha.ย Have you been singing or listening to anything today?
Oh, sweet.ย There’s always that background story, isn’t there?ย I didn’t know much about the Red Baron but am now reading about him on Wikipedia.ย I’ve mostly just heard mentions of him in vintage public domain books written during the war, but they’re all American so basically all they say is that he’s this horrible guy that everyone’s afraid of. ๐ย The Wikipedia article is interesting.
I’m assuming you mean “thousand words” where you said “hrs?”ย Not sure, though, since it only takes you half an hour to write a thousand words.ย So in that case, 30hrs would be 60,000 words, right? ๐ย I’ll have to think about my goal.ย I don’t want to completely fail like I did last time, but I also think I’ll have more time to work this month.

June 29, 2018 at 10:18 pm #74612@seekjustice Oh yes, I meant to ask.ย You said it’s going to be in a book?ย What book?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
June 29, 2018 at 10:29 pm #74613I broke my habit of listening to musicals and I was actually listening to some contemporary Christian music. Tenth Avenue North, in case you were wondering. ๐ Its not too bad.
Well the Red Baron definitely was pretty scary, I would have been scared of him. But, in the end, he was just a very young man who needed God and had a mother who loved him. So I wrote about it ๐
I just meant hours. Because I’m going to be working on a whole bunch of different flash fictions and short stories, I’m not setting a word goal, but rather the amount of time I spend on them, including editing or whatever, in order to get them ready.
I entered it in a contest and they’re publishing an anthology of some selected stories, so its going to be published in that.

June 29, 2018 at 10:37 pm #74614@rochellaine Aw, I wish I could join you! Super busy right now, but I’ll see you next week ๐

www.jennaterese.comJune 29, 2018 at 10:58 pm #74615@seekjustice My brother has a degree in music and has made a study of what types of music effect your brain in different ways, and based on that we don’t listen to contemporary Christian music. ๐ย So when people here talk about all sorts of musical groups and band names I have no idea what anyone’s referring to. ๐ย But the music groups that I do listen to are ones that you would probably really dislike. ๐
Oh, I didn’t know there was a setting for hours!ย That’s cool.ย (I just went to the website and figured it out.)ย For me a word goal is better, because I need to work on focusing and actually writing rather than spending fifteen minutes staring at the page and then writing five words. ๐
Wow, that’s fun!ย Are they crediting you?ย If so, under what name?ย There have been a lot of discussions about the use of real or pen names lately on the forum.
@jenwriter17 Too bad. ๐ย Okay, see you next week!"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
June 29, 2018 at 11:05 pm #74616That’s really interesting! What were the results of his study? (as in, why particularly do you steer clear of Christian contemporary music?) I don’t usually listen to it, for the simple fact that most of it is extremely unoriginal (come on people, we are worshipping and singing about the Creator of the Universe! Endless repetition of boring lyrics does not do him justice). But I bought a Cd the other day because it looked interesting (and it was on special too). Currently I’m listening to the Thomas the Tank Engine theme song.
I’ve never tried an hours setting before, so I’ll be experimenting with that. I feel like I probably work better with a words goal as well, but I’m going to give it a go.
They had better be crediting me! And they’ll be using my real name, since I entered the competition under that name (most competitions don’t allow you to use a pseudonym when you enter. At least in Australia they don’t).

June 29, 2018 at 11:08 pm #74617@rochellaine I can’t really chat now, but…
I didn’t know your brother had a degree in music! That’s really cool, including the part about how music affects people’s brains. What is it that you learned about contemporary music? (I don’t listen to contemporary Christian music either for the most part, just cuz I find most of it annoying)

www.jennaterese.comJune 29, 2018 at 11:38 pm #74618@seekjustice @jenwriter17 Since I’m not an expert, I can’t give a real explanation. ๐ย But basically he studied the types of chord progressions used in different styles of music, and which ones improved your health and which ones were detrimental to your health.ย Most people here will agree that rock music is detrimental to your health, I believe.ย What we’ve found, is that the people who first started writing contemporary Christian music (I don’t know which group) wrote it purposefully as a “bridge” to get people used to that, and more inclined to listen to rock music.ย That was actually a statement they made.ย We do call that music “bridge” music.ย And while it doesn’t have the heavy beats that usually characterize rock music, it has the same types of unhealthy chord progressions, which my brother has studied extensively.
Soo…I don’t know if that was a good explanation or a horrible one.ย When I try to explain things it usually ends up being one or the other, and I never can be sure until someone reads and tells me it’s fine or says they have no idea what I’m talking about. ๐ย But I was trying to give just a simple, non-exhaustive explanation of the basics of what he/we learned.
