@seekjustice Hey, I was just thinking of something. I think it’s a really good idea, but I’m not sure if you’ll agree. 🙂
Why don’t you keep the origami story at the length it is, entering it in the other competition, and then tweak a section of Stars into a short story to enter in the more restricted length competition? Since it’s not published yet, it should still fit in the guidelines, right? I was thinking something like the “love scene” chapter between Quillon and Sapphire, since that has a lot of good elements of a short story, and (I just reread it to check) has enough back story in it to still make sense without the rest of the book, since she tells him her whole backstory in that one. It’s got the sweetness, the laughs, and the philosophy that it needs to make a good short story, in my opinion.
What do you think? 😀

Actually, that is a brilliant plan. I don’t want to “cut off the toes and hair” of Origami Cranes just to squeeze it into the comp, but I possibly could do that. I’ll have a go a little bit later (I’ve got to go into town today, but hopefully I’ll be around at my usual time). Thanks for the idea!

@dragon-snapper Times up now, and I am amazed at myself. I actually wrote 969 words! That’s nearly twice as much as I did yesterday against Sam! 😀 I guess I got to a really easy part to write.
