The Crash Course Psychology video series
https://thecrashcourse.com/topic/psychology/
is technically made to help high school students pass the AP psychology course but generally speaking you can use their videos for researching different topics. The crash course videos are rated pg I think (they usually show them in school) however some of the psyche experiments they talk about are a bit disturbing or odd.

January 9, 2023 at 12:20 pm #128551Here y’all go! I found this article and these are five forms of stress/PTSD that can occur. And u can find out which u believe ur character has and research it individually!
Cool, thanks! I’d forgotten there were more than three kinds of PTSD…
As mentioned in the article it usually occurs often, and there’s probably quite a few of ours charries who have this, because it’s pretty much a blanket statement
Yeah, we put them through a lot of traumatic things…
(also Ik I’m spamming XD but this is interesting to me so ya!)
Don’t worry about it! XD This is partially why I created this forum, I find things like this fascinating.

Yeah, most psychology stuff can be kinda weird or disturbing, depending on what you find. I did a psychology course on early childhood development and it’s weird what they think human motivation for living and everything comes from…

XD no worries. Someone somewhere will find it.

I’m not sure if any of my charries have PTSD or any of the like. If any did, it may be Everton, Tyrone, or Lukas.
But I don’t think they do. Ev’s parents never abused him. His father was only unnecessarily strict on him, and that just caused tension in the family.
Tyrone goes through some things, but nothing that would cause any disorders, I believe.
Lukas is kinda the same thing as Ev. I’d only say that he has a wrong view of what God designed the family to look like.
As for my other charries in the Endoxos Trilogy, I don’t think any of them have any mental illnesses/disorders/disabilities. I may have Malyk have a rough backstory, but I’m not quite sure yet. During the trilogy, some charries do see some things that they wish they didn’t; but it’s nothing terrible because I read the trilogy aloud to my 8 and 10 year old siblings. 🙂
What do you all think?

January 9, 2023 at 3:54 pm #128592@esther-c Hm well I can’t really say not knowing what some of your characters see or go through.
I’d just say follow whatever you feel and know about your characters. Maybe do just a bit of reading up on it and see if any of the symptoms fit them.
I can send a list of what the symptoms of PTSD are, and in order to have it, these symptoms proceed for a month or over a months time, and then you can check off those boxes.
Also the link I sent to that article can help. While they may not have PTSD, they can have just normal stress response (everyone does) and acute stress disorder (which isn’t PTSD but can become it if things persist or things get too tough, this sounds like it could be what some of your characters have.)

This is a diagnosis list for PTSD

#ProtectSebJanuary 9, 2023 at 3:59 pm #128598The list above also points out a very important/interesting fact
Some people do have delayed PTSD, as mentioned in the last line of the Diagnosis list, when asked if the stressors appear six months after the actual situation occurred.
It might take a certain event, trigger, or just time before a person/character shows indications of PTSD.

Makes sense. =)

I was just asking what you all think about if my charries may have PTSD or not. (Sry, that wasn’t very clear) I think Godly answered my question, but if you have any thoughts, please share!
