      @trailblazer

      Hi!

I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer, because I love hiking, especially in the mountains.

I love mountain hiking! What mountains do you hike? My family always goes to the Blue Ridge mountains on vacation and we always hike!

I can’t say I’ve written people I don’t like into my novels, but I’ve definitely written interesting strangers… like the one guy my family met on a hike who kept talking and talking and talking about how he made his own hiking stick and how his photography got into some magazine and I don’t even remember what all else lol. He stood out enough to make it into one of my stories!

He definitely sounds interesting! I haven’t written any interesting strangers into a book yet, but a boy at my co-op has a horrible neighbor and he tells all sorts of stories about her at lunch, and I’ve been taking mental notes. She is definitely going into a book someday!

I was reading over your list of favorite books, and the Little House series was a huge favorite of mine as a child! I had a bonnet and everything… and it’s still one of my favorite historical eras to write in.

I’ve read Little House so many times! It’s been years, but I still love it! I was Laura in a wax museum project when I was in second grade. Right now I’m reading the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke, which takes place in the same time period.

Also, fun fact, my family is very, very, very distantly related to the mother in Cheaper by the Dozen. And I also went through a presidential phase back in middle school, but I’m a little rusty on my presidents now lol. I had a whole folder of papers listing their families and fun facts and stuff about them.

Cool! I have a binder somewhere, but not long after I started it school got much harder, so I think I only got to Tyler. I admired him because he had 15 children. My favorite is Theodore Roosevelt though, because he had such an interesting life.

(Wyoh is the KP ghost whom we blame for everything that goes wrong… she’s been very active lately)

Oh, so that’s why profile pictures aren’t working, and one of my posts got eaten twice. I didn’t think to save it until after the second eating, so I had to type it out 3 times! 😬 Does Wyoh have a backstory?

Also, you should meet @ava-blue , aka Queen of the Chicken Nation.

…if she would actually show her online face on here for once *sigh*

        Oooh! A chicken nation! 👀

Hi! I generally lean more towards soft worldbuilding, though I am trying to create a world with harder worldbuilding. (I haven’t actually come up with any good ideas yet though.) My duck world has a very soft magic system, in which pretty much every weird magic idea I’ve had exists. Including a singing pineapple.

My favorite concept I’ve seen in writing is the cult of evil librarians from Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians. It’s so ridiculous, yet totally plausible.

My favorite concept I’ve come up with is probably my duck marriage traditions. When two ducks get engaged, the drake will buy the hen and himself simple chain necklaces. At their wedding, they will exchange precious gemstones for their necklaces. Every year after, on their anniversary, they exchange new beads/charms/gemstones. You can tell how long a duck has been married by their necklace.

I talked about my projects on a previous reply, here is that part copied and pasted: I have too many WIPs. The main ones right now are a dystopian with most of the characters, but no plot yet unfortunately, a fantasy with ducks who are under the rule of humans, and are trying to overthrow them because the humans eat them, (most of the humans, some are on the duck’s side), a spy-fi in which the MC, who has no name yet, shouts “BANANA!” at the airport because she was bored, and this turns out to be a code word, and she gets roped into trying to save the United States from an evil cabbage worshipping cult. Also, I have way too many romances, and a short story about a duck who wants to see the world.

If all my duck subjects were abduckted, I would launch an attack on whomever abduckted them. If that did not work, then, as a last resort, I would pay a ransom. I actually have a duck currency, they are called DuckBucks.

Cool! A singing pineapple really sounds like a fun read! I’m much more of a hard worldbuilder myself, but I have strong respect for soft worldbuilding when done right. (If you need help with ideas for hard stuff, I’d love to help if such help is wanted!)

My favorite concept I’ve seen in writing is the cult of evil librarians from Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians. It’s so ridiculous, yet totally plausible.

I love Alcatraz! Have you read the full series? Bastille vs the Evil Librarians was the perfect finale.

Oh cool! So it’s kind of like the Amish marriage tradition, but with necklace beads instead of beards. Unique traditions are always fun to dream up.

I talked about my projects on a previous reply, here is that part copied and pasted: I have too many WIPs. These all sound so fun! I couldn’t possibly tell where the cabbage cult story was inspired from:)

If all my duck subjects were abduckted, I would launch an attack on whomever abduckted them. If that did not work, then, as a last resort, I would pay a ransom. I actually have a duck currency, they are called DuckBucks.

Ahh, I see. Are duck bills an illegal currency then? I guess that makes sense, as you don’t want to take a duck’s bill from their face, that would be quit rude. Perhaps the attack should be more stealthy, like you could send a secret agent named James Pond.

Unfortunately, where I live in PA, most of the “mountains” are just really big hills lol. But my family has been going up to New Hampshire every summer for the past couple years. In my opinion, those are the best mountains east of the Mississippi. I’ve been to the Blue Ridge mountains, too, and they’re pretty, but they still don’t quite match New Hampshire. My family took a trip out west a couple years ago and the mountains out there are soooo beautiful! I’d love to go back someday and do some more hikes out there!

@rae and @savannah_grace2009 created Wyoh, so I’m sure they’d be glad to tell you her backstory. I don’t know as much about her as they do, I just know she gets hungry and likes to eat my posts lol.

                  I have been called upon!

                  @theducktator

                  1. Cool Username
                  2. I did make an intro post, but Wyoh ate it 😠
                  3. I indeed will explain Wyoh

It all began when a mysterious person posted one singular post on an RP, then deleted their account. The one post was their only post, and KP  showed not the slightest information except their username which we saw in a notif email. I don’t remember what the username was ( @savannah_grace2009 help). we decided it was the KP technical ghost that we always believed existed, but hadn’t named. So Sara and I named her Wyoh, short for wyoming, which happens to be the name of a girl in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein, and the name of my new bunny.

Wyoh is now the proud name of KP’s horrid technical ghost. She haunts KP looking for posts to devour, Ads to add at inconvenient places, and any other horrible thing that makes it hard for KPers. She is the servant of no one, and master of Kp glitches. The cold-hearted piece of machinery or data that rarely has the word mercy on her metallic lips. And no one can stop her.

Thanks! A few tips would be nice, but I’m mostly focusing on my other WIPs right now.

I love Alcatraz! Have you read the full series? Bastille vs the Evil Librarians was the perfect finale.

Oh yes. Especially at the end when Alcatraz and Bastille were arguing over who broke the balcony. And I’m so glad Grandpa Smedry is still arriving late for his death. I love him.

Oh cool! So it’s kind of like the Amish marriage tradition, but with necklace beads instead of beards. Unique traditions are always fun to dream up.

I actually have no idea what the Amish marriage tradition is. I just knew I wanted jewelry, and rings wouldn’t work, since ducks don’t have fingers.

I couldn’t possibly tell where the cabbage cult story was inspired from:)

😂 That wasn’t intentional. I was just brainstorming ideas for evil groups that would want to take over the USA,  and that was the first idea that made any sense. If you consider cabbage worship “sense”, that is.

Ahh, I see. Are duck bills an illegal currency then? I guess that makes sense, as you don’t want to take a duck’s bill from their face, that would be quit rude. Perhaps the attack should be more stealthy, like you could send a secret agent named James Pond.

James Pond!😂 I have a secret agent duck. His name is Carl. I would send a picture, but my sister is using the phone right now.

We don’t really hike in our state, (IN), either. I’ve never been to New Hampshire, so I don’t know how they compare. I have seen pictures of the west though, and it’s beautiful. I definitely want to go there someday.

Yep, Grandpa Smedry is the best! So you’ve read Alcatraz, and you mentioned Kaladin earlier, what other Sanderson books have you read?

I actually have no idea what the Amish marriage tradition is. I just knew I wanted jewelry, and rings wouldn’t work, since ducks don’t have fingers.

Fair enough, lol! Yeah, in Amish culture, every young man must be clean shaven. Once married, he’s to never shave again, so you can tell how long they’ve been married based off of the length of his beard. It also indicates wisdom for the same reason.

😂 That wasn’t intentional. I was just brainstorming ideas for evil groups that would want to take over the USA,  and that was the first idea that made any sense. If you consider cabbage worship “sense”, that is.

It often is like that. So many of my own ideas I could easily trace down to other existing stories😂 Not just the cult though, but the kind of out there humor and premise gives a distinctive sent that makes me think of Alcatraz, which I’m totally on board with. Avatar the Last Airbender also came to my mind (if you know you know)😂

James Pond!😂 I have a secret agent duck. His name is Carl. I would send a picture, but my sister is using the phone right now.

How dare she! I got a notification that you had posted here, but then I couldn’t find it and was very confused.

It all began when a mysterious person posted one singular post on an RP, then deleted their account. The one post was their only post, and KP  showed not the slightest information except their username which we saw in a notif email. What is an RP? So Wyoh is short for Wyoming. I was wondering if maybe it was short for why oh why, the cry of anguish when a post is eaten. XD

*claps* Very dramatic! She has eaten several of my posts too. I’ve started pasting them into a google doc before sending.

Welcome to KP! I missed your initial arrival due to being sick, but now I’m here! I’m Jonas, more enigmatically known as Cloaked Mystery. I write mostly in the fantasy genre, but usually with hard rules that verge on sci-fi. I like creating magic systems, usually hard ones, but I have a few soft-ish ones. My current project, which I am working on with my sister, @highscribeofaetherium, is a large fantasy universe that contains many different planets.

Some of my favorite authors are Tolkien and Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson’s Cosmere in particular is a huge inspiration behind my projects, particularly the magic systems.

Outside of writing, I play and compose music (I play piano.) I’m nearly a black belt in karate. I play video games, and am also an amateur video game designer. I also enjoy participating in the many character RPs on here.

                            See you later!

Yep, Grandpa Smedry is the best! So you’ve read Alcatraz, and you mentioned Kaladin earlier, what other Sanderson books have you read?

I’ve read Skyward, Tress of the Emerald Sea, A Frugal Wizard’s Guide to Surviving Medieval England, and all of the Stormlight Archive except Dawnshard, which I think I have from the library, but is missing. Alas.

Fair enough, lol! Yeah, in Amish culture, every young man must be clean shaven. Once married, he’s to never shave again, so you can tell how long they’ve been married based off of the length of his beard. It also indicates wisdom for the same reason.

That’s very interesting! It does make me wonder whether husbands ever get tired of being so beardy, and how would a woman kiss her husband if his face is covered in beard? My dad grows a beard every winter, and when it gets too long, my mom complains about it. XD

It often is like that. I have never seen Avatar. It is on the list of movies that everyone has seen but me. Which is a lot. 😂

I’ve read Skyward, Tress of the Emerald Sea, A Frugal Wizard’s Guide to Surviving Medieval England, and all of the Stormlight Archive except Dawnshard, which I think I have from the library, but is missing. Alas.

Awesome! I’ve read all of those except Stormlight 4, which I’m in the middle of. Are you about to read Yumi then, since your in the middle of the secret projects?

That’s very interesting! It does make me wonder whether husbands ever get tired of being so beardy, and how would a woman kiss her husband if his face is covered in beard? My dad grows a beard every winter, and when it gets too long, my mom complains about it. XD

Yeah, I’m not sure, lol! It would probably just get used to it. A lot of men prefer long beards, so it may be a fair trade off in the eyes of many.

I have never seen Avatar. It is on the list of movies that everyone has seen but me. Which is a lot. 😂

To be clear we’re not talking about James Cameron’s Avatar, right? As well as not the movie that doesn’t exist. I’m talking about the animated tv series, which I will defend as the greatest series to ever exist. It’s a must watch, if you love Sanderson’s writing, both serious and silly, then you’ll love Avatar!

Wow. That…was unexpected. I will try to send the picture again later.

                                  Until later then🤣
