Kate
”You stop that!” Kate shouted, sending a blast of concussive red light towards the elf.

Zash’s knives pulled themselves from his body. Two had hit him in the body, one in the arm. The others had fortunately missed.
Zash gritted his teeth against the pain as his wounds slowly healed. He hated that girl! He would see her dead!
You really should sit out after that, Zash, Alirai said in his mind.
”Shut it!” Zash hissed. “I’m not done here.
His wounds had stopped bleeding. That would have to be enough. He pushed off his knives imbedded in the wall, launching towards the wall.

November 23, 2023 at 9:44 am #166304Kari
As smoke filled the dining hall, Kari couldn’t see very well what was happening around her. Everything had erupted in chaos, and she was not prepared to fight. Backing into an obscure corner, she began praying for help. What could she use to fight? Glancing down at the ground, she noticed a knife lying near her feet. It must have ended up on the floor when Kate demolished the table. Kari bent down and picked it up. She wasn’t an expert fighter, but at least having a sharp object in her hand gave her a means of defense.

November 23, 2023 at 9:46 am #166305Nora
Kate yelled at the elf, sending red energy her way, but it fell short, dropping to the ground and resting like a barrier at the elf’s feet. The singing continued, and another voice joined it, turning into a song as hideous as darkness and death.
She didn’t hear what Nahim yelled at her.
Ice and snow swirled up around the elf, black defusing into the blue.
Nora stabbed at the elf, but it was like hitting a hard wall. A shock went up her arm. Blackness began to form around them, and the ice eyes of the elf turned a total black.

Something crashed into her again, pinning her to the ground. The knife guy again.
Kate brought up her sword to block his,but she couldn’t push him off.
Looking around, she saw that Nora was unconscious.
This…does not look good.

Fire erupted around the elf before him as the singing went on. It grew so hot it became blue, then turned purple before turning an unnatural dark shade at the roots. The elf’s eyes became totally black.
Nahim grasped at his memories, before finally catching the tune on his lips.
It was at first slow and quiet, but his voice grew, singing in fair elven tongue. It was like the creation of the stars, like the bloom of a new flower, like a fresh dew in the morning, a new snowfall in the mountains. Like leaping young deer and galloping white horses, playing their games in the fields. Like running brooks and swaying leaves. But also like tears of mother’s who have lost a child. Cries of guardians over their lost charge. The sorrows of a young boy who still mourns the death of his parents. Like the anger of a powerful soldier. Like the battlecry of a great leader. Like the foolish rebellion of a young buck. For the song pulled out the deepest reaches of Nahim’s heart. In his voice was a story though the words were not, in his voice was sorrow and pain, joy and love, rebellion and protection. It was a heart-wrenching song that also made you want to dance for joy.
It was this tune that challenged the magic of the elves, and this song alone.
"You need French Toast."

@rae there’s a name for that feeling. I just haven’t invented it yet.
November 23, 2023 at 10:02 am #166309Nahim continued
The ground under him shook, and his voice grew louder, until it began to drown out the voices of the two other singers. The cold screeching voice died out entirely, while the fire elf’s grew louder.
The unnatural fire formed itself and rushed at Nahim in a ball, the center darker than night. It hit Nahim, slamming him into the wall, leaving the Queen unshielded. Nahim’s voice almost fell silent, but then another voice joined him. It wasn’t in the elven tongue, but still it strengthened Nahim. Standing up, Nahim stood in front of Queen Silvae again, as an rose behind him. The voices seemed to quench the fire elf, and the darkness that gathered around receded, they were winning.

Kate didn’t know what was happening, but she joined the song.
The man pinning her down looked around as though he were afraid.
”Quiet!” he hissed. His sword stabbed towards her face, but at the last second it veered away.
The man screamed in rage, “Alirai!”
Kate seized the hilt of the sword and heard a voice in her head.
Do not expect me to save you again. Good luck.
Kate sang louder, kicking her opponent in the chest and rising to her feet, two swords in hand, though she could feel one trying to pull away.
