Signature is limited to 100 characters? That seems awfully unjust. We refuse to be bound by these ru

                Kate

Kate heard the sound of her pursuer behind her again. Wow, he caught up fast!

She suddenly realized that she was back where she had started, near the men’s room, where Nahim lay unconscious and unprotected. She dodged through the door, closing it behind her, hoping that the man with flying knives wouldn’t notice.

Nahim was still unconscious on the bed. She shook him vigorously, but he didn’t stir.

Then she remembered her healing charms. They worked best on physical wounds, like cuts, bruises, and broken bones, but they should cure Nahim’s unconsciousness and foggy head at least a little. She crushed the gemstone and sent a puff of red light at Nahim. His face glowed slightly for a moment, and he blinked.

                Just then, Bloodsong screamed.

                Kate, look out!

The door of the room blasted off its hinges, and collided with her, smashing her into the wall. Everything went black for a moment. She blinked, and saw a cloaked figure standing over Nahim, who was blinking drowsily.

“Nahim! Catch!” she shouted. She threw the handle of his sword towards him.

                      Ellis

Convicction shone green as Ellis sliced through some of the fiendish looking soldiers that had charged into the room. He tried to locate his allies, but it was impossible to see through the smoke.

If we don’t clear out this smoke, he though. We’re all going to pass out.

He saw Ottoline outlined hazily in the smoke and moved towards her. Suddenly, he saw an orange glow, brighter than the flames around him, emerge. The glow resolved itself in the shape of a sword, carried by a silhouetted figure.

                      “Stay back,” Ellis warned.

The figure lunged in, resolving into man with dark hair and ragged clothing. Ellis parried the stroke, but it was more difficult than he had anticipated—the sword was heavier than it looked.

Ellis fell back a bit, then leapt forward with a grunt. Ellis unleashed a flurry of strikes, his speed enhanced by Conviction. The man barely managed to parry his attacks. Ellis kicked his opponent in the shin, dropping him to one knee.

“Whoever you are, you made a big mistake,” Ellis said.

“It’s Dlek,” said the man. “And this is nothing personal.”

The man, Dlek, somehow lifted himself up by one arm, pushing himself into the air. He planted his feet against Ellis’s chest, but they felt incredibly light. Suddenly, weight seemed to rush into Dlek’s legs as he kicked Ellis in the chest, knocking him backwards.

Conviction slipped from Ellis’s hand as he skidded across the ground and crashed into the wall.

                      What was that?

                        Nahim

There was like a surge through Nahim, and he blinked. His head felt foggy and still hurt, but it seemed better. He heard vague noises, as if they were far off. Ever time he blinked, he only saw the fuzzed up bottom of the bed above him. Until something black leaned over him.

“Nahim! Catch!” He heard a woman’s voice. Was it…Kate’s? He saw a fuzzy silver shine above him. A blade.

That was when his warrior instincts kicked in.

He saw out of the corner of his vision, an object flying towards him. He caught it, giving the figure above him the good hard punch of a metal gauntlet. The figure reeled back, and Nahim’s thumb felt the grove of his favorite crystal sword. He didn’t bother to think why Kate had it, he just activated the blade. Green shot out of the handle, and his blade hardened. He swung his sword at his opponent, still little more than a blur of black.

I know it’s not wood, but it’s some other fiber I have no name for. It can be given many textures, but it’s natural one is smooth. Very smooth. It is obviously flammable, but burns slower than wood. It does cause more smoke though. I’ll come up with a name for it.

                              Kate

The stranger met Nahim’s strike with his sword, which drew itself from his back as Nahim attacked, and sent some knives at him. They bounced off, missing the gaps in the armor he had been aiming for.

Nahim retaliated with a strike that hit his opponent in the left side of the head. The sword deflected off with a metallic clink. The stranger’s hood fell down as he staggered backward, revealing a metal plate stretching from his eye socket to his ear. He let out a furious growl and launched himself at Nahim, knives swirling around him.

But Kate was ready. A blast of red light hit him midair. The stranger screeched as he sailed through the doorway and into the hall. He smashed through the wall and disappeared outside, leaving a man-sized hole.

Nahim stared off at the hole his opponent had made before shaking his head quickly and turning to Kate.

“Thanks for the help, you alright?”
