[Puts his elbows on his knees, foot bouncing. Looks reasonably focused.] “Hi, nice to meet you. Is this like a job interview?”
How old are you?
“I got somebody to run all my physicals and I should be fourteen or fifteen. But there are strange things out there, things that should be in my body or my head. There’s a newspaper clipping about me at a music festival fifty years ago. I… don’t even know how long it’s been or how it works.”
Do you have a favorite comic book character?
“Captain Memphis isn’t bad. The really cool thing about Memphis is that he’s a harbinger. He collects powers from our world’s dust rings. The comics were written back in the 7990s but they’re more accurate about the rings than people thought.”
[Thinks.] “The last books I read were Harrowing Life, Cant of Lipstick, and Deepworld IV. Never thought I would read books with those titles, but they were pretty good.”

“Huh. At first I was going to say that sounds tedious, but I can’t talk like that when sky trams are so undependable.”

“Imagine every building had three or four stories at least, built really randomly over the years. Usually they’re way taller than that, and people keep adding apartments. They are painted or covered in posters or whatever, with lots of fans and open windows. Sometimes the dust stays anyway.”

“Qhivzim is mostly cat, but I’ve always figured it has the bone structure of a lizard because its legs splay out to the sides. It has this huge tail that fans out like a bunch of dance scarfs twisted together. It won’t sit still long enough for me to draw it.”

- Who’s the person they trust the most? Why?
- What does it take to gain your trust?
- And to break it?
- How forgiving are you?
- What’s your greatest insecurity?
- How do you deal with it?
- What is your greatest flaw?
- What is your favorite memory?
- What is your least favorite memory?
- Do you have many regrets about your past?
- What’s the biggest regret you have?
- What do you want the most in life? Why?
- What do you think will change when you achieve it?
- Is that really what you need to make things better?
- (Final question for the author) what do they truly need?

Would anyone like to do a casual back-and-forth interview? I ask your character questions and you ask mine. I have a couple new protagonists so this seems like a partially productive activity.
Besides, this was a fun topic, and I think there’s plenty of reason to bring it back.

I will go with my MG project’s protagonist. His name is Cosmo and he’s a 14-year-old boy living in the normal modern day. He’s very sweet, maybe a little nerdy. Just picture a kid in a patchwork jacket, headphones, and pale almost-lavender shadows under his eyes.

@whalekeeper cool beans. I’ll go with Sennin as my character, he’s Sniper’s half-brother. He’s half-Argonite half-Changeling. I considered describing him but that would take a while so I’ll just go find a drawing of him somewhere.
