that doesn’t matter. We all have a learning curve. I hate some of the drawings I have on here, but that doesn’t matter. Plus, you can get helpful feedback and/or encouragement!
Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God
December 31, 2024 at 12:06 pm #193310@rae Excuse me??Where did all this gorgeous art come from? You’re improving so fast! The style is adorable and the colors are so pretty and soft. Are you using alcohol markers?
🎵It takes a long time to wait 🌻
December 31, 2024 at 12:09 pm #193311@whalekeeper whoa nice pictures of the art gallery! Where was that, exactly?
also cute doggie lol, what’s his name?
@rae I don’t know what you meant by saying your drawings are bad back when you refused to post them. They’re better than mine. Sure, I can get the overall shapes of characters down and stuff, but I can’t shade to save my life, and I’m restricted to one artstyle–my own."When in doubt, eat cheese crackers."-me to my charries who don't even know about cheese crackers
December 31, 2024 at 12:18 pm #193313You’re welcome (:
I’m glad you posted your art, and I hope that you’re glad you did, too, even if you’re not completely happy with it. It can be really hard to share something you created

December 31, 2024 at 12:52 pm #193316January 1, 2025 at 12:12 am #193347January 2, 2025 at 12:06 pm #193427I’ve been trying to draw my characters recently, but have been struggling to do so, with something feeling wrong to the point where I cannot even finish an outline before I erase the whole thing. I’ve realized I’ve let the need to make a drawing perfect become too important to me and got stuck comparing my art to some proficient artists. There is one website I found with lots of drawing tutorials on realistic animals, and it’s great, but the author put so much emphasis on how everything you draw has to be realistic. This stopped making drawing fun for me, and I don’t like that. So I’ve decided to take a break and draw something else in my ‘Joe Sutphinish’ style.
This is a scene from a show I recently finished watching with my siblings called Avatar: The Last Airbender. Zuko preforms the “Dancing Dragon” with Ran in Book III: Fire – Chapter 13: The Firebending Masters. I thought this was one of the coolest scenes in the show, so I pulled up a screenshot, and used it as my reference. I may post a cleaned up version later.

January 2, 2025 at 12:12 pm #193430AAH it’s Zuko!! I love Zuko so much. Well done; you translated the anime-like style of the show to your own interpretation, and it looks great! Was he your favorite character?

Thank you! It really helped that I didn’t have to come up with the pose myself.
Here is the screenshot I used as a reference:

Thank you! Yes, Zuko was my favourite, along with his Uncle Iroh. I love redemption arcs, and Zuko’s was very well done.

January 2, 2025 at 12:18 pm #193433I don’t know what about the drawing and screenshot makes we want to scream with delight, but there is just something….. the pose, the feel, the emotion…….. MAN! That is incredible that you drew that, and I love how you took the screenshot and turned it into your own style!

Yayy!! We should totally make (or revitalize) a topic for that show. This forum needs to experience some great fanart for AtLA, and you are definitely the best artist for the job.

Thank you again. I would like to do this with the illustrations in the Narnia books someday.

Thank you again! My drawing skills are a gift from God, and while I have had to practice lot to get to where I am today, I know that ultimately, I can draw the way I can because of the way He made me.
