  • @Northerner I have no idea where my first post went. Here. Have it again.

    Okay guys.
@Hope gave me a book with three of G.K. Chesterton’s novels in it as an early birthday present, and though I have only read one of them so far it completely blew my mind.
It was The Ball and the Cross.

Has anyone else read it? If so, can we please discuss how…[Read more]

    • Ignore my spelling errors. 🙁 I’m terrible at checking my own writing.

    • *puts on thinking cap* Hrmmm… well, the first game that comes to mind is Blindman’s Bluff. Then there’s a similar but less ‘dangerous’ game that doesn’t have a name, where ‘It’ stands blindfolded in the middle of the room and one player at a time tries to sneak past (and around) him without getting touched.
And honestly I have zero head for…[Read more]

    • Do you mean the theme would be spiritual blindness, and you’d just play physically ‘blind’ games, or would the theme be physical blindness (probably not, but I want to make sure I get what you’re saying. 😉 )?
And ditto to what Kate said about fundraising…sorry. 😛 Have some sort of craft sale, maybe? *helpless shrug*

    • Hmmm…. that’s a great thing to raise funds for, @bluejay! Who will you be giving the money to? (i.e. Compassion, Samaritan’s Purse, a missionary at your church, etc.) Well, the only games I can think of that haven’t already been suggested would be searching through something like rice, blindfolded, to find a small object, like a marble, pebble,…[Read more]

      • @julia-r The funds will be going to CBM.
Hey, I like that game. You say you’ve done similar games before, can you tell me how much rice would you put in the dish (how big is the dish) and are they allowed to use their hands?

        • I would get a really big storage container (like utility bins) and fill it with as much rice as you can. Rice is cheap, so it shouldn’t be a cost issue. And yes, you can use your hands! It’s fun to rely only on touch to find things.
Another similar suggestion (this might appeal more to younger folks) is to put the pieces of a 6-piece puzzle in the…[Read more]

    • @bluejay Would it be indoors or outdoors? I know two games that raise money, but they don’t have a thing to do with blindness. You know the type of game where you try to throw a small object either into a basket or through a small hole in a board or to knock something down? You could charge 25 or 50 cents per toss. The other game is quite a bit…[Read more]

      • @sarah-h It would be indoors. Thank you SO much for all the wonderful ideas. I have decided not to run the fundraiser so a bit because I am so busy with prier commitments. But the ideas are wonderful and will be in a file for future reference.

@zcpeterson Nice! 🙂 We also happen to have a sawed-log target in our backyard. I like to throw knives too, which is why I asked. (Oh the hobbies writers can have) Thank you The Ranger’s Apprentice. Unfortunately, I don’t carry a dagger (might have some trouble going through metal detectors) and I sometimes sword fight with my little brothers…[Read more]

@zcpeterson Thanks for the info. 🙂 *feel free to share a few beary good bear stories* 🙂 🙂

  • Jess replied to the topic Hi Everyone in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 1 month ago

@zcpeterson, were you being serious about the knife-throwing and other skills? It’s kind of hard to tell over here 😛 ! And @clairec is right, we are all a little crazy here! (In a good way 😉 )

Hey, @corissa-maiden-of-praise give that back! I want some chocolate toooooooooo!!!!!! *sobs*
Wait what’s this topic for again? Oh, yeah, welcome @zcpeterson! Can I just mention…*glances around* *whispers in your ear* Everyone on here is absolutely mental…if you value your sanity and your life, you may want to leave…. 😛
    Great to have you!!!

Okay, I am officially convinced we scared @zcpeterson away. She’s probably hiding away, quickly reading the Count of Monte Cristo just so that @daeus won’t destroy her.

(Laughing silelently at the fact that I haven’t read it either)

  • Ah, this looks like the right place for this. @BlueJay 😀

So, who out there has read Sherlock Holmes and loved him? Or, dare I say it, hated him? *gasps* If you do hate him, please tell me why, because aside from a few swear words 😛 I thought they were some of the best stories I’ve ever read. In one of the books, Sir Doyle did something that…[Read more]

@zcpeterson You come from Minnesota! Believe it or not but that is the very state my sisters are studying. (We are doing a state per week)
What can you tell us about Minnesota? Two questions from one of my sisters, 1. Do you have a state animal? 2. Do you have the black bears?

  • Daeus replied to the topic Hi Everyone in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 2 months ago

@christi-eaton Oh, sure. It’s coming along pretty well so hopefully won’t be too long.

@zcpeterson Thou art officially warned to read the count of monte cristo, the punishment for not doing so being that you will not have read it, at which apocalypse the angels will surely weep for you.

  • Christine Eaton replied to the topic Hi Everyone in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 2 months ago

@zcpeterson Welcome! I’m very glad you have decided to join us. (don’t worry, I was a stalker for a long time before I actually showed up as well) @Daeus, I’m surprised you haven’t yet asked her if she’s read the Count of Monte Cristo. (It’s his favorite as he’ll probably tell you.) Well, if you won’t then I will. Have you read the epic story of…[Read more]

I love your poem! Overall, I think the meter should be a bit more consistent (for example, in the last stanza), but other than that, it’s a great poem. 😉

Or can hold every bird in it’s flight

That would be “Or can hold every bird in its flight.” Sorry, had to fix that. 😀

It looks like I’m the sanestest person here. It is wonderfulling to meat you! *insane laughter* *struggles to keep a straight face*
    Seriously now. Welcome!
@bluejay, I’ll take some of that chocolate! You know what they say: “Eat a chocolate bar every day, and the doctor will stay far away!” Something like that. 🙂

    Okay, I’m done.

@zcpeterson Welcome to the land of the dragon! Well, only a few of us are dragons actually. @kate-flournoy and I, we’re both dragons. Nice dragons, though, so don’t worry about getting eaten.

Well hello and welcome (officially) to the bestistest place on the internet! 🙂 What are some of your favorite books? POETRY! Yes. I like poetry. 🙂 I think I remember one of your poems that was posted on the website. It was a really good poem, I remember. 🙂
@kate-flournoy Congratulations on your fantabulous word masterpiece.…[Read more]

  • @ZCPeterson, please don’t be scared. We’re all perfectly harmless, I assure you. (well, except for our various collections of sharp and very deadly weapons… but we can’t use those over the internet, so you should be safe. 😉 )

@BlueJay I think you know perfectly well what I mean. 😉

@sarah-h What did you think I meant? Certainly not anything…[Read more]

  • @ZCPeterson Oh, I like this! One line that doesn’t seem to flow with the others is “or clothes lilies in fields as they grow”. I don’t know why, maybe I’m just tired. Also, in the second to last line, “how great is our God then, who can do all these things”, it seems to me it would help the rhythm if you take out the “then”. I’m not very good at…[Read more]
