Thank you! it took me a year and a half to decide! lol
Well, I must say my inspiration was partly from a Griffin clan keychain pendant I was given two years ago. One side of my family two generations back has that last name. 🙂 That triggered the story being started as well as the story of the MC (main character), but the actual world…[Read more]

@writerlexi1216 Ah, writer’s burnout… It’s such fun, isn’t it? :)))
As for my experiences with the subject: I went through a ~3-year period where I barely wrote at all, and am actually currently in the midst of somewhat of a dry spell. As such, a lot of what I’m about to say is advice that was given to me (much of which was said by your broth…[Read more]

haha!! Great idea!! And I’d say your MCs dialogue fits.
My sci fi book MC is shy in big groups but stubborn and has her opinions and likes to bug her brother
her first three lines in the story:
(Omits action) Alden, stop it! I hit in here five minutes ago!”
(Omits action) “Good morning. I didn’t burn the house down so that’s encouragi…

@nova21 Ooh I love this! (And your lines of dialogue!)
Here’s mine for Horace, one of my MCs who is a magic-lawyer on good days and a control freak on bad ones. 😛
1) “Enjoying the view?”
2) “I’m sure.” [action tag] “Something on your mind?”
3) “My apologies then,” [action tag] “You just seem rather—“
Yeah. Dealing with his moody teenaged comp…[Read more]

@nova21 Oo cool idea!! Yours are funny XD
My character is kinda bubbly and sarcastic/teasing, so Ladies, here’s Catherine XD:
“It’s the perfect gift for your girlfriend, don’t ya think?”
“How many children will I be the aunt of? Six? Seven?”
“Oh! What if you have all girls! Your home will be amazing. Make sure you invite me over a lot.”

@writerlexi1216 Aww sorry you’re burned out!!
So personally, I have a few hobbies that I like to keep up with. If I burn out on one, I focus on bettering another until I feel ready to work on the first one again. Just make sure you do something so your creative inkwell doesn’t run dry, catch my quill?
Sometimes if I burn out, I listen to…[Read more]

@nova21 Oo, fun! Hard time to find which MC though, haha…
This is for Nan Jinqi, who’s, um, what is he like… He’s quiet and dependable, I think. Quite observant. Hard-working. I don’t know that much about him yet.
1) “Run!”
2) “It was your stupid machine that crashed and burned, [action tag omitted], And who said I was here to stop you?”

The title says it all, folks. I just thought it might be fun to compare what your character says to see if the dialogue truly matches their personality or not.
So I’ll share mine first!
MC is Dylan, who is stubborn, quiet, and strong-willed. A little self-protective. Lmk if his dialogue fits his personality.
1) “Better.” (*rolls eyes…

@writerlexi1216 Ah, yes, the first time I won NaNoWriMo I didn’t write another word for 4 months. Not worth it lol. But since then I’ve built up my writing muscles.
For me I just keep floundering around in water like I’m about to drown. I tell myself I’m gonna keep writing, but in reality it’s so painful I can only get out 100 words a day. But…[Read more]

This is ALL too relatable, Lexi! The way I usually (try) to overcome writer’s block/burnout is picking up a different project. I have *counts Scrivener docs* 25 WIPs from the last 2 yrs. Not that they’re perfect. (Or finished.)
This way really helps me to take a step back and pick a project that I’ve been developing pre…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic How do you continue a character arc in a series? in the forum Plotting 4 years, 9 months ago
@nova21 I like this idea! Unfortunately I never plot out my character arcs so I can’t help you with that. Best of luck, though. I believe one time someone told me that an overarching theme for a series + individual themes for each book is good, so I think that could work the same with arcs. Maybe for the next book focus on something more…[Read more]

Heyyyy!!! Writing’s been going pretty good. I started a new novel and have been loving it probably more than anything I’ve ever written. Life’s been mostly crazy, but I’ve been hanging in there. Oooo Skyward Sword sounds fun!! What is it exactly?

*pokes head into topic*
I know I’m a bit late to the topic, but I wanted to see how everyone is doing! How is writing going? How is life? Personally, I haven’t been doing much writing lately, but I have started playing Skyward Sword HD, which is basically the same thing, right? @scripter-of-kingdoms @seekjustice @devastate-lasting @godlyfantasy12…[Read more]

ahhh yes they totally ruined the Hobbit movies. Although I think they did a good job of Smaug
LoTR is my favourite book to read and I’ve listened through it several times too! Cool that you listen through it too! I have the unabridged audiobook copy narrated by Rob Inglis. I can fall asleep listening to that book now lol
