I read this one almost exactly a year ago, actually, and I loved it too. It&#8217;s one of those books that really makes you think, and I can honestly say a year later, it has made me treasure freedom of speech and writing more. It has helped me not take those freedoms for granted. </p>

A lot of it does depend on the story. Like Anna said, &#8220;If your story is set in China, most likely everyone will be Chinese.&#8221; </p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s a girl who loves singing, but suffers vocal cord paralysis and has to spend a couple weeks in silence and then months more without singing. She has to find something else to do with herself while facing the fear that she may never sing again. </p>

<p>I agree there&#8217;s a definite difference between torture and punishments. Torture = physical pain to gain information or otherwise make someone do something. It presumably has nothing to do with whether or not they did something wrong. </p>
