So I should know a lot about this . . . but I forget all that I’ve read. Okay, so here goes . . .
–Get rid of song cliches. Broken heart. Cold meaning emotional indifference. Light meaning knowledge. I mean come on!
–Learn rhyme schemes. It’s very important. Like AABB or ABAB are super common. Especially how they make the audience feel. Like…[Read more]

Haven’t looked at posts so I might be repeating something but here are some thoughts . . .
–I heard that Priebus is a Christian. Anyone have a take on that?
–A certain comedian actually convinced me not to believe in polls anymore. I mean if someone asked you who you were voting for during pre-election season would you honestly tell them?…[Read more]

I love songwriting! I think that what you have is pretty awesome. But a difference in rhyme scheme or meter might help. In order for you to not bore your audience then you have to have variety. Repetition too, but most people already have a good deal of that. So variety.

@kate-flournoy has a lot of good points @anne-of-lothlorien. And @emma-flournoy is true about the stereotype. I think that the best way to write little kids is to give them great reasoning because to them everything is quite logical. They just have less understanding.
Also, something I’ve noticed is that little kids are pure evil. I’m serious.…[Read more]

If you post a book that has an awesome theme then I won’t kill you. I may still try to get my hands on a copy of the book. But it’s harder to find books than movies. And because of that I might not learn that much. So I prefer movies.

I’ve been studying up on theme. Especially in movies. So I was wondering if you could give: Two movies that have, in your opinion, extremely powerful themes. If you could also give why those movies have such great themes or how they made the theme awesome then that would be even better.
Now I’m not talking about themes like “Peace is better than…[Read more]

I’ve been studying up on theme. Especially in movies. So I was wondering if you could give: Two movies that have, in your opinion, extremely powerful themes.
Now I’m not talking about powerful themes like “Peace is better than war because true peace isn’t tainted by man.” That’s a decent enough theme. Great even. But it isn’t necessarily powerful…[Read more]

My idea was that if someone had a lot of social interaction they would eventually be seen. And from what I’ve noticed in this forum. Most people would just tag people that they know would help them. So if a new person would come and prove helpful to me, I’d be like “Huh, @dragon-snapper is real cool.” So I’ll tag @dragon-snapper…[Read more]

I see your points. I’ve seen this type of thing in other forums and it is abused, but in general the most highly rated people do respond with helpful information. And although the most helpful people might not be able to help, the second most helpful ones (with the time to help) could still be shown as the most helpful…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy Yeah, I’ve heard that dragon legends come from dinosaurs. Ken Ham really promotes that and I believe it. But I think @sarah-h is right in that most New Age cults do believe in special “relationships” with supernatural beings. Eragon and his dragon’s relationship sounds a lot like the relationship of New Age cults in that they can…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy That’s why I love soundtracks. It makes you relive the experience. And for me it kind of plugs the energy of the movie into whatever scene you’re writing (thus my use of Time from Inception during my death scenes).

Wow! He was raised by a cult! Laughing at myself now.
Paolini was raised by the Church Universal and Triumphant. It’s a cult in Paradise Valley, Montana. However, it’s pretty interesting (in a bad way). It focuses on the relationship between humans and past Ascended Masters (Jesus, Sanat Kamara etc.) So I can see how that influenced his…[Read more]
