Thanks for the thoughts, y’all!! Your opinions are helping me figure this out a lot. I might just step back from it for a while, or try to write a little farther ahead in the story and see what happens.

I don’t think the spells were created to be real incantations. They’re just Latin. The problem isn’t the spells themselves, but that people are using them for satanic purposes, which makes them real.
