Your battle sounds a lot like mine, and I just want to say that, even though during the months it was happening it was one of the worst times of my life, I have grown a lot closer to God in the long run because of it. It forced me to seek Him and it helped me experience His Presence with me while I was going through it.

That’s very comforting to hear, thank you. Thank you for the book recommendation and the suggestion as well.

Do you mind me asking if you are a boy or a girl? (Not to offend you or anything—I just couldn’t tell by your profile pic.)

          That’s okay, I’m a girl.

That’s a very good response, thank you for it. It’s reminiscent of Pascal’s wager.

          Merry Christmas!

Okay. Even I don’t know who the vandal is, so I’m going based on who I don’t want to write about lol. Kefa refuses to inform me…

Okay, new part of the games is out!!

                            Chapter 1

                            Monday

                            Danger on the Rapids

The contestants began to wake up, due to the preset alarms that were included in each hotel room. The time was seven in the morning, and everyone was tired and cranky. Especially Aurora.

Eventually all the contestants gathered in the cafe for breakfast. After they ate the bus arrived to take the contestants to learn what the first game will be. “Ugh, I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night!” Aurora complained. “This is the worst hotel I have ever slept at!”

“I thought it was super cozy!” Owiti commented.

“Of course you would think that! Since your poor.” Aurora rolled her eyes.

“Am I the only one that couldn’t fall asleep?” Katerina asked her friends

“Yeah, it feels very different. Being on an island and all.” Ziporah said softly.

“Don’t worry. We’ll most likely go home soon!” Alyona smiled soullessly.

                            “What…” Ziporah’s face went flat… Again.

The bus stopped at the parking lot of the main stage and the contestants filed out of the bus to the seats.

“Welcome everyone! If you are wondering where we are, this is the place where we will hold all the voting!” Allen announced.

“And now, to all of you unaware, this is how the Diamond Games will work. Each day, except for Sunday, your teams will compete in a challenge voted on by the viewers to win money. Two teams will win each day, and two will lose. The teams that win will be invincible from having a teammate voted out and will have a chance to vote on who the vandal is in their team. The vandal is someone on the team trying to sabotage his teammates to win the money for himself. The losing teams will be up for voting on, in which one person from each team will be voted out and leave. By the end of the games, only one team will win.”

“Speaking of which, we have gotten our first votes!” He turned on the tv and revealed the votes.

“It seems that rapid river racing has won! I hope you all can swim! Because you will, possibly, fall off.”

“Um, I’m not really that good at swimming…” Jaydan seemed concerned.

“Well then, we’ll make sure that you won’t fall off!” Ziporah merrily yelled.

“Imagine not being able to swim.” Antin scoffed quietly to Alwin.

“Alright, what are we waiting for? Time to hit the rafts!” Allen put a stop to all the talking and guided them to the rapids.

“Here they are! The rapids of Jade Island!” Before them was a large river with many rocks and fast-moving, deep water.

“First one to reach the finish line with their whole team wins, and gets money added to their pot. Last two teams there are up for elimination!” Allen stepped onto the dock and assigned the rafts.

“The red flags will mark checkpoints, and there are three of them. Good luck!”

Everyone got into their team’s raft and was ready for the game to begin. The rafts had seven seats on them, with six down the length of it, and the final one at the front for viewing what was ahead.

“Alright Argonauts, I will be sitting in the front for top instructions! Arizona and Judith, you’re the weakest so you will be sitting near the front, paddling.” Beatrice said.

                            “Hey!” Arizona and Judith interrupted.

“Well maybe you shouldn’t have told me that you don’t like working out! Anyway!” Beatrice continued

“Next Quin and Eric, you two are the strongest out of all of us,” Quin and Eric grinned, looking at each other.

“So you will be in the back, steering!”

“Wait, why? Shouldn’t we be in the front?” Eric asked.

“No, you idiot, since you’re too dumb to understand, I will explain it! The two people in the back will be steering the giant raft full of people, it will take more work to move it!” Beatrice yelled.

“Edgar, Pawel. You will be in the middle, so that you can help with either steering or paddling!” Without any further argument, the rest of the team went into the raft.

                            Meanwhile with the Sirens.

“This is so dumb!” Aurora yelled. “Why do I have to sit in the top and row?”

“Because you are one of the oldest?” Walter shrugged. “Alright, Rosamund and Owiti, you guys should probably sit in the middle, and Sebastian and Buddy, you guys steer. And Aurora and Joshua will be in the front part. I will navigate.”

“And who said you were in charge?” Sebastian questioned seriously.

“I did, now come on, the game is about to begin.” Walter hopped into the front and the rest followed in.

The rest of the teams didn’t have much trouble getting in, except for the Olympians.

“I think I should be the navigator, since I have perfect vision! Besides, I took a navigation class before. I know everything there is to know!” Antin explained. “I wouldn’t let the team down!”

“That may be true, but I have had my fair share of navigation as well. Besides I am older and more sensible.” Robert pointed out.

“That leaves you Daiwa, Ziporah and Vitaliya are on my side, and Alwin and Jaydan are on his, so who should navigate?” Robert asked in a hurry.

“Well… No offense to Antin, but Robert is just way more experienced. So, I guess him?” Daiwa thought out.

“Perfect, get in!” Robert hustled everyone into the raft and then the buzzer went off.

The race had begun. The boats launched off from the starting point and floated down the river, and already Beatrice’s team, the Argonauts, were in first.

“LEFT, GO LEFT!” Beatrice yelled at her team.

“Okay, okay calm down Bea.” Quin rolled his eyes.

“Don’t you DARE call me Bea again!” She yelled back. She sat at the front, pointing to which way to go. “Looks like we’ll be alright for a bit, the water doesn’t look too rough yet.”

Small waves bumped the boat along for a good two minutes, and then, all at once, the boat sped up, and waves splashed against it, spraying water all over Beatrice. “Take it easy guys, we’re getting to a rough part!” she spluttered, grabbing onto the boat.

                            “No kidding.” Judith muttered.

“Okay, forward paddle!” Bea yelled above the steadily growing noise of the churning river. “Forward!”

“Sheesh, can’t she shut up?” Eric muttered to Quin.

“Yeah, we should’ve been the ones leading.” Quin whispered back.

“Why don’t you two stop complaining and paddle?” Pawel commented, swinging his paddle forward and into the frothy waves.

“Why don’t you keep your nose out of where it’s not wanted?” Eric snapped, glaring at him. He dug his paddle forwards, with a particularly strong stroke that splashed Pawel. Pawel stopped for a moment, wiping the water.
                            “Eric!”
Eric smirked, “Whoops, wrong stroke.” Quin chuckled.

Pawel swung his paddle around and hit Eric in the arm, with not much power. “Ow! Your gonna pay for that!” Eric kicked the back of Pawel’s seat. Before long the three began to fight, and their team lagged behind the Sirens and the Harpies.

“Would you IDIOTS stop fighting and paddle!” Bea yelled at the top of her lungs.

“Though I would hate to agree with someone who yells like that, you morons should straighten up.” Edgar stared back at them.

Meanwhile, on the Olympians, Robert’s team bounced against the rapids, paddling down the river on the Argonaut’s’ heels.

“Stroke! Stroke!” Robert yelled. “Forwards! We’ll pass the Argonauts if you keep it up!”

The river tossed them about, spraying water over the sides.

“Woah!” Ziphora cried, bouncing and nearly falling off as they went down and surged back up.

“You alight?” Vitaliya asked, glancing over in concern.

“Yeah, thanks.” Ziphora replied. “Look, we’re passing them!”

Sure enough, the Olympians crept up ahead of the Argonauts. Antin grinned, “Great! We’ll win this race in no time!”

“Uh, I wouldn’t speak too soon.” Jaydan murmured, glancing at the water worriedly. He didn’t like how much the raft bumped on the water, or the number of times he’d clutched the handle next to him for dear life.

“Jaydan might be right. Look alive, team, there’s a cluster of rocks up ahead. We’re in for a rough ride.” Robert announced, “Forward stroke!”

The Sirens rushed ahead, taking first. “Ugh, my shoes are soaked!” Aurora complained, looking down at her squishy shoes. “Noone told me it would be this wet!”

“Gee, did the ‘rapid river rafting’ give you any clue it might be?” Rosemond rolled her eyes as she paddled.

Aurora glared at her, her face growing red. “Oh well, these were just designer shoes anyway! Since I’m not broke, I have plenty more than just this pair and all.” Aurora looked around smugly, but no one seemed to care.

“Cut it out you two, we have to work together if we’re going to win.” Walter said. He stopped paddling, then whipped his head back and barked, “Backwards paddle, now!”

                            “Wha-”

“Now!” Walter exclaimed, then with a sudden wave the raft crashed into the water, drenching them and nearly flinging Owiti out.

“AAAAAA!” Owiti bounced into the air, waving his arms wildly for something, anything. He fell back down onto the raft – without his paddle. He looked over to the side and caught a glimpse of the paddle’s handle sinking into the swirling river. He leaned back in and felt Rosemond’s gaze on him.

“Uh, Walter? I sort of lost my paddle.”
Walter looked back at him, then back to the front. “That’s alright, Owiti, I’m sure-”

“Nice going, dimwit.” Aurora interrupted, annoyed. “You’ve probably cost us the victory now.”
“The only thing that’s going to cost us the victory is your attitude.” Sebastian commented. “It’s okay, Owiti, don’t feel bad.”

“Oh, so now it’s my fault?” Aurora’s voice dripped with irritation.

Walter sighed, staring ahead. They had passed the first flag, only two more until the finish line. It felt like two too many.

And now, to the Athenians. “Kyomi! Why are you leading us a- OOF!” Kozue was interrupted when her team hit another rock.

“Personally, I think that anyone but her would have made a better leader.” Edvaldo began to focus and gained his team momentum.

“Can we slow down? I am feeling nauseous.” Calvin leaned over the boat. Callum watched and rolled his eyes as he continued to paddle.

“Were losing speed with you not paddling!” Kyomi yelled. Calvin sat up and grabbed his paddle, before leaning over again. This time, however, he did not get back up. He leaned too far over the edge, and Callum swung his paddle around, knocking Calvin over.

“Callum! What was that for!” Kozue yelled.

“I’M SORRY! I Wanted to ask if he was okay… But I forgot about my paddle!” Callum tried to explain.

“We have to turn around now!” Kyomi shouted.

“Are you sure? I think we just have to make it to the end.” Edvaldo said uncertainly.

“But I thought the guy said we had to have all of our teammates?”  Kyomi began to try and turn around, but Edvaldo wouldn’t let her.

“It would be a waste of time to go get him and then race to the finish! Besides, do you remember the host guy specifically saying that?” Edvaldo questioned.

“No, I don’t think so.” Kozue agreed. Callum just shook his head.

“Then it’s settled, we make it to the finish.” Edvaldo said, and they continued to paddle. And the Athenians were back on track, leaving Calvin.

“Pick up the pace, guys, we’re in last!” Robin hated the sight of the rafts up ahead. The one in front wasn’t too far ahead, but at this point, all Robin cared about was being in first.

“It doesn’t matter if we lose, we’ll probably all lose anyway and get out.” Alyona replied, paddling without much enthusiasm.

“Keep your spirits up, we can make it. we still have two flags to go until the finish line.” Blaze said cheerfully. They were at a point where the water was less bumpy and were rounding a corner of the river.

“Right, it’ll be… backwards! Backwards!” Rachel yelled, frantically paddling. “We’re headed towards some rocks!” The raft was indeed speedily nearing rocks as the river pushed them towards it. Luckily, the team followed her orders and just cleared them. “Great job, guys!”
Except now, they had a new problem. Rachel was facing the back of the river, and Boyan, who had been at the back, now faced the front.

Rachel sighed in frustration, “Backpedal.” The team attempted maneuvering the raft, except the river pushed them along, and as they back peddled, they went around in circles. Finally, they regained control and passed the rough waves, only to lose sight of the other rafts.

“Come on guys, double time!” Katerina shouted. She wouldn’t be losing today, not the first challenge.

The river swirled around their raft, rising. “Come on, only one more flag to go!” Robert pointed ahead, then grasped his paddle. “We can make it!”

“Surely nothing bad will happen now.” Ziporah said. And then something bad happened. A rough patch of water sent the raft whirling down the river, then smacked into a cluster of rocks. “Woah!” each team member lurched forward, and Alwin tumbled down the raft.

Robert jumped to his feet, “Everyone up! No time to lose!”

“And this is exactly why I didn’t want to come.” Daiwa muttered, hopping out with Robert, Ziporah and Antin.

“You guys in the raft, get back to your spots.” Robert said, and he and the others waded out and stood atop the sandy shore where the rocks lay, then shoved off. At this point, it didn’t matter though. As the others pushed the boat, Vitaliya and Jaydan watched the other rafts speed by.

“Go, go, go!” Antin exclaimed, and he, Robert, Ziporah and Daiwa jumped back in, and the raft was on the move again.

“We can still make it!” Robert exclaimed.

Daiwa shook her head, but didn’t say anything as she took her seat again.

“Hey, did you guys see that? we passed one of the teams!” Nathan grinned. “If we pass one more, we’ll be safe!”

“Keep up the good work guys, and watch out for water ahead, it’s not looking too promising.” Rachel said. The boat bounced along and soon passed the third flag.

“Well, we still have to pass one more boat, and at this point-” before Alyona finished her thought, Blaze shouted,

“There’s the finish line, and look, we still have a chance!” The raft ahead of them was only about 20 feet away.

“Paddle, faster!” Rachel cried, but alas, to their bitter disappointment, the raft ahead was too fast and passed the finish line.

The Harpies sat back in disbelief, and no one said a word.

The first to finish was the Athenians, “Let’s go!” Kozue yelled at the top of her lungs! “We just won immunity!” Kyomi shook her paddle in the air with triumph.

But their joy was short lived. “Hm, it looks like you are missing a teammate.” Allen pointed to the empty spot on the raft.

“But I thought we just had to finish?” Edvaldo began to look frantic as he talked.

“Nope!” Allen smiled. “You must have all of your teammates finish to win. Speaking of which, we’ll have to send someone to find your teammate.”

Just then the real winners crossed the finish line, The Argonauts. “Did we just win?!” Arizona shouted.

“Yes, and it was all because of me!” Bea praised.

“Sure, you can believe that.” Judith teased Beatrice.

“Congratulations to the Argonauts!” Allen said as they stepped out. “You just won immunity and added 1,000$ to your team!”

As the Argonauts high-fived and cheered, the next team, the Sirens, floated in.

“I knew we would win.” Aurora got up and tried to get out, but she ended up tipping the raft and knocking everyone in. “UGH! Joshua why did you do that!” Aurora screamed. Josh stared, then shook his head as the others got out.

Next came in the Harpies. As each stepped out, looking downcast, Allen grinned. “Why the long faces? Your team is safe!”

“How? We were second to last.” Racehl asked, puzzled.
“Well, lucky for you, the Athenians were disqualified for missing one of their teammates, so your team is safe from voting!” The Harpies looked at each other, then burst out into a clamorous celebration, high fiving each other.

Suddenly, the Olympians paddled in. “Well, even though we came in last, at least we worked together as a team?” Alwin offered to his teammates.

“Right, like that was important.” Antin stormed out of the raft.

“Well, looks like the losers of today are the Olympians and Athenians!” Allen called out. “The rest of you go back to the hotel, Olympians and Athenians come with me.”

Allen and the two teams took a different bus back to the stage, with the others heading to the hotel. When they arrived, they got out and filed into their assigned seats. “I understand that you are upset for losing and have some things you would like to address to your team. So, before you go back to the hotel, what would you like to say?”

The first person to speak was Ziporah, “If I can talk, the only reason we lost was because Robert led us into that rough patch!” She recounted.

“The reason we even had a chance in this challenge was because of me.” Robert looked at Ziporah as if she was crazy.

“Ziporah, you didn’t do anything to assist this team! Antin did ten times better, You barely paddled.” Alwin accused.

“Leave Ziporah alone, I am sure she did I better job than you and Antin.” Vitaliya rolled her eyes.

“I highly doubt that.” He muttered.

“Edvaldo, why did you lie to us?” Kyomi asked, sounding dubious.

“Sorry about that… I think I just misheard the guy…” Edvaldo trailed off. “Besides, you were the one to lead us into those rocks.”

“Callum, you knocked off Calvin! What was that for!” Kozue turned the blame towards Callum.

“I already explained, I forgot about my paddle, and I wanted to see if he was alright… Besides, I didn’t really see you paddling!” Callum pointed at Kozue.

“What if Calvin was just slowing us down… And he fell off on purpose…” Kyomi suggested.

“What! Calvin would NEVER do that!” Callum yelled.

“Wait, where is Calvin?” Ethnie butted in.

“And with that, now it is time to vote! You, the viewers, have one vote per team! So, feel free to vote out whoever you feel the vandal is! Or just vote out whoever you don’t like!”

                                Emeline

Emeline looked back, catching her breath. She could hear the clangs of metal echoing along the halls, and the hiss of the snake.

What am I doing? She had stopped running now, still staring down the hall. I can’t run away now and leave Rowen to possibly die. What kind of a coward am I? She dashed back down the hall, slowing down as she approached the noise. She crept along the wall in the shadows, and gazed out. Before her, Rowen, Percival, Hugo and Reid fought the snake, and Barnes seemed to have lost her mind. She had Tenz pinned against the wall, ready to strike.

Emeline crept closer, her heart racing. She took a deep breath and called, “Lady Barnes, what are you doing? Put Tenz down now!” (no idea what to do lol)
