thx for praying! It ended up being warmer than predicted, plus it sprinkled for five minutes then got sunny. One single (not ours) capsized, but the guy got back in and finished the race. Last, I think, but he finished.
One of our boats got second in a race, not sure about the others. This was the first time those…[Read more]

I’m just gonna say it and the banish myself from this topic
My dad says that there are a lot of generations skipped in those genealogies, and that they only recorded the more important people, so that’s why he doesn’t think that they are a very accurate way to calculate the age of humanity.
The Bible doesn’t say ‘and there were man…[Read more]

I don’t care too much either way. It’s not important to the Gospel or to proving the Bible.
The Bible implies a young Earth but doesn’t explain it outright. The Earth scientifically looks like it’s old but there are inconsistencies.
Jonas pointed out starlight. God wanted the lights to appear on the fourth day. Could the fourth…[Read more]

Old-earth. There just seems to be too much scientific evidence that this is the case. (For example, the stars are millions to billions of light years away, so in order for the light to have reached us, the universe has to be at least that old, or God created the light already in transit, which seems weird–it’s not like he’s on a…[Read more]

Ah, this question.
I believe in a young earth, both scientifically and personally.
What is amazing to me is looking back at what we can figure out of how the Earth formed, and how that aligns with Scripture if you let Earth be young (Genesis 1 is shockingly scientific, so to speak).
(Plus, the Geologic record…there are some…[Read more]

An interesting thing that my dad talked to me about is the possibility of the creation of a world with the appearence of age.
It seems that Adam and Eve were created adults. Did they have belly buttons? Weird question. But even if they didn’t, modern scientists probably could look at them (in an imaginary universe where imaginary…[Read more]

If young earth means not billions of years, then yeah—young earther. We used to have a Jewish calender app thing on the family tablet, and it calcualted all the years and generations and stuff up until now. According to the calculations that that thing did, the earth is only about five to six thousand years old. Fifty or sixty g…[Read more]

@theducktator Young (~6-7 thousand), but it’s cause there is scientific evidence that the Great Flood laid down a lot of the rock layers, “speeding up” the age data. Some are from before, but the majority of them are from during or afterward.
of course, that goes into the whole local or global thing. Personally I believe it had to be global as th…[Read more]
