I have a character who’s mostly serious, but I don’t want him to come off as boring and like a cardboard cutout. Does anyone have tips for how to write a serious character without making…[Read more]

Nothing wrong with it being a tad cliche, you just need to do it right. That being said, perhaps another idea is there could be something related to how the crystals came to be in the first place. Maybe the crystals are actually different animal spirits housed in inanimate matter, which is how the portals work in the first place.…

I like the confidence, but I don’t drink coffee. If you want long, we can go long.
It’s completely understandable, I do not drink coffee either. I better go grab a mug of hot cocoa for reading your responce. ☕🍫
Could you elaborate on John 4:34? Either I’m misunderstanding it, or it’s the wrong verse.
I accidentally said the wrong…[Read more]

Ok, so this is a wonderful point of discussion to go to when it comes to God’s nature. What is reality itself, and what is existence.
Alriiiight, let’s do this *cracks knuckles*
If there are multiple necessary beings, then their identity would be partially defined by their relationship with the other, which means they are d…

Hey dude. I just had a random thought, and I wondered how it would be interpreted by you.
From my point of view, I don’t disagree with you that there are “gods” or spirits that can be of many different types, but generalize themselves as the same thing. I can understand the referring of the Three as One to be a similar…[Read more]

I’ve been stalking this conversation, and I’ve found it fascinating. My dad says the reason the ancient Israelites weren’t taught about the Trinity is because of how rampant polytheism was. It had to be eradicated before they could understand Three in One and One in Three. By the time Jesus came, the Jews had a lot of proble…[Read more]

Lol, I knew I couldn’t get away with it that easily😂
Ha ha. Yeah, this is a bigger issue. You might want to grab some coffee or something to drink for this one, it’s going to be long.
By post does not seem to be working so, tell you what, I will put it in a Word document and give you the link. Here it is:

Sorry guys; I dropped this when young adult life crept into play, and have since lost relevance and steam. I had some specific thoughts, since I wanted to clarify some things before moving forward. But I don’t even fully remember what my questions were… I may come back to this later – and reread our…[Read more]

Thank you for the suggestion of the trickster, but I kind of want to keep it as a curse if I go with the Sabtah origin story, trope or not. Why? Because of the irony. Sabtah was trying to escape curses and got cursed yet again. Perhaps some of what I was thinking is that Sabtah wanted to be separated from God, and while he could…[Read more]

Sounds like a fun plot, so would you think of this as a Narnia style allegory for addiction rehab?
Uhh… I really got to work on my magic system. This story is not about overcoming addiction, it is about overcoming sin (you are not the first to mistake it as this). While others do get addicted to magic, loving the power it gives…[Read more]

Now how about your end? What denomination are you? Based off of our conversation so far, I’d say you’re a Baptist, Presbyterian, or Non-denom. Any of those correct? What is your definition of Christian?
The church I attend is non-denominational, but I would say it is in a group of churches coming out of Grace Community Church tha…[Read more]

I understand that you’re implying the discussion of grace vs works, but the thing is that we are saved by grace alone, and my faith believes that 100%.
That is great that you believe that! As Ephesians 2:8-9 says, we are saved by grace and through faith in Christ Jesus. Whoever puts their faith in Jesus and believes in him will b…[Read more]

Cool, so it’s balanced with a little more green. Let me guess, Pryde is primarily inhabited by the Lyens?
Yup. It is the capital of Klaw. Klaw used to be a kentor country, and that is part of why there are trees in the cities and nature is still important. Too bad the lyens lyenised most of the names of that place. Lyens tend to l…[Read more]

Cool! So almost steampunk vibes, but a little more conservative. Would that be about right?
Maybe, I do like nature as well though, so the country that this story takes place in has mountains to the west and praries to the east with forests in the middle. Trees are common in their cities. The capital, Pryde, has a river valley with…[Read more]

So what you are saying is that if one carries out Christ-like behaviour, he or she will be saved? What if I forget to seek after Him at times, being distracted by something else? Am I doomed to go to hell if I fail to show Christ-like behaviour and if I fail to love others as much as I can?  You mentioned earlier that Christ s…[Read more]

*facepalm* so much for being dramatic. The post is ‘pending moderation’, because I put a link in it. From past experience, that takes a long time (approximately forever), so I’ll have to redo that.
Good to see you again! I haven’t been too active either, more just on and off. KP finally published my short story as well, so that’s cool. I’ll check out the Novella! That’s awesome that you’ve done that!
That’s something I should do honestly, I’ve been banging my head on the wall over writing whole books, that I haven’t considered starting with…[Read more]
Yeah, I found that writing is a lot easier when you have *no other choice.* Since I was expected to submit an outline, and expected to submit a chapter every week, I actually did do those things!
Yeah, that’s what happened when I wrote my short story. There was a due date for a competition I was entering it for, so that accountability really forced me to Just Do It!
What’s frustrating is trying to have that same accountability on yourself. Even if you set dates, it doesn’t feel the same, so there’s gotta be good ways to convince yourself…[Read more]
Maybe we could organize something similar for KP, where everyone submits a chapter a week. But then again, maybe that wouldn’t be enough. It would probably be pretty easy to tell everyone that you didn’t have enough time, and then get behind and completely forget about it.
That’s true, but holding each other accountable is a great method. Me and my sister could start trying to do that. We pester each other about writing all the time, but it may actually help to set it up as chapter submission to one another, or something like that.
Wow, dramatic.
One question: WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH JONAS?
???
Jonas is never this dramatic!

I’m going to get to your novella sometime…I’m kinda busy right now (it feels like I always say that now….ugh!) but I will!
