@christianna-hellwig A word about tags–to let someone know you’ve responded to their post, simply put @ and then their username, like I did with your tag above. You can find a persons’ tag just below their username. My username, for example, is Elizabeth, but my tag is @that_writer_girl_99. Make sense?

@that_writer_girl_99  I’m sorry, I think yesterday when I sent this reply to you my computer malfunctioned or something…
Gryffindor is AWESOME. [if you haven’t read Cursed Child yet this is a spoiler
sorta] Slytherin did get Harry’s kid though so I guess there is an exception for Slytherinplus, my best friend (two of my be…[Read more]Spoiler -

@warrenluther04 Well, this seems like a pretty sturdy story idea. I like the idea of using this mythology with elves and stuff. (Or are the alfs?) 😛 Anyway, it’s like what @that_writer_Girl_99 said, that the character will be pretty important. How the character ties into that sort of plot. Maybe Loki and Laufey’s motivation. What they want.

@that_writer_girl_99 By “sold out” I don’t mean that you’re crazy about it, but you’re at least determined.

Okay, let me put this a different way. Would you say you want to reach thousands of readers with your books or are you sold out on doing so?

Okay, second question: do you plan to become an established author?

PrincessFoo replied to the topic Informal Survey in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
@mnvalentine @that_writer_girl_99 I didn’t think about the positive themes of Harry Potter… Good point. I love the Harry Potter books, and taking the quizzes and stuff. I don’t like the Hunger Games.

MNValentine replied to the topic Informal Survey in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
@that_writer_girl_99 I totally agree. I really loved the first Hunger Games book but the other two felt really forced. I’ve only seen the first movie and thought it was pretty good. Although even the second two books were more convincing than Twilight…

MNValentine replied to the topic Informal Survey in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
@daeus Definitely.
@that_writer_girl_99 @princessfoo Actually that’s not entirely true. I can’t speak for Twilight since I read only one book and hated it, but Harry Potter has very strong messages about love and self sacrifice. The movies almost completely erase these messages, but in the books they’re still there, and I think underneath the…[Read more]

@that_writer_girl_99 Ah, I see your point. I was thinking how Harry Potter, (though this wasn’t my original example) has reached hundreds of people who are obsessed with what house they are in and what wand they have. The books, though even I love them, subtly tell us things like lying is okay, and even helpful sometimes. The Twilight series…[Read more]

Hi friends,
I wanted to do an informal survey. How many of you want to impact the culture with your writing?
I’ve got a follow-up question, but I’ll wait till you answer this one. 😉

@that_writer_girl_99Â Ooh, boy. Let’s try this…
Here is a little tactic for writing a compelling, and non-cliche fantasy story: Diversify your world. By all means include dragons, elves, knights, old parchments and/or a mentor or two — because those are AWESOME. But imagine how much more awesome your world would be if you added a unique…[Read more]

@that_writer_girl_99 Yes, it’ll make sense in the story. I’m actually planning on posting it in the forum (possibly this one), but I need to figure out how to get the link. Thanks for the advice!

@that_writer_girl_99 Yes, I imagined that that would happen. That was actually mostly just me jotting (well, typing…) my ideas down. Basically, after Ualair returns to Alfheim, Loki and Laufey will start Ragnarok: the death of Yggdrasil and the Nine Realms. The Aesir, or the Viking gods, will perish, along with the Jotuns, Vanir (the gods of…[Read more]

@radically-surrendered I do like to sing, but not in front of other people. Heheh… My mom used to teach me how to play flute and piano, but you could say I’m a bit musically challenged so I stopped. 😛

@that_writer_girl_99, That’s really great advice, Elizabeth, and one of the things that so often get forgotten in any ministry. We get so caught up serving, we forget who and why we’re serving.
