Where you come from, do you introduce yourself as “Hey, I’m me!”? I should think not 😛
*quickly hides any evidence of ever talking to herself*

For starters, no self respecting Australian named Robert would actually call himself Robert. It’s either Rob or Bob, but never Robert. So there, the problem is solved.

It’s a well known fact that Robert is actually pronounced “Robbit”.

I love the way A.A. Milne does that, I just like reading it to so much. “Pooh was a Bear Of Very Little Brain. And Piglet was A Very Small Animal. I just finished reading the original stories to my little brother and we both loved it!
I can just imagine Bobert being a hobbit. and that’s funny because it rhymes too.

I think I am flattered. And I know, for someone who continually calls her characters her children, I am a terrible mother.
That snippet is actually so funny!

Ha, I did that too. Poor Justice.
Can you imagine how many shirts I would need? You haven’t even read my novella, Comrade, yet. You don’t know the half of it.

@Ariella-newheart @rochellaine
Watch and learn my friends.
Step 1: Give them a horrible backstory. (E.G. unloved orphan raised by an arrogant, but caring shinobi, becomes a ninja. Best friend betrays him, attempts to kill him not once but twice. Becomes assassin etc)
Step 2: Redeem them. Make everything fluffy clouds and rainbows.
Step 3: Have…[Read more]

Those are some really cool names, I especially like Echo and Briar! I once knew a girl called Bryony as well, which is another pretty flower name. I like flower and gem names. There’s also an island in Australia called Elcho Island, and I’d love to call a character Elcho one day!
@rochellaine @Ariella-newheart Ha! Renjiro is not dead…[Read more]

I have a character called Ren too, but it’s short for Renjiro. He’s also the bestiest ever and I love him to pieces.

My thoughts exactly, though I do like his name a lot. Liliom is a pretty cool name, though I feel it should have been a girls name. Also, it’s weird that his real name is consistently spelt differently. Well, I’ll definitely get around to those soon(ish)!
I read it the other month, it was definitely weird and freaky to some extent,…[Read more]

@dekreel *is jealous because Dekreel’s book has 75,000 names in it and mine only has 40,000*
Definitely, fire away!

Welcome to the great naming discussion!! I love names too, names are awesome. The question is: do you own a baby name book?
-
SeekJustice replied to the topic Writers' Corner #14 in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
I do! And I honestly can say it’s the most useful piece of writing equipment I own, it’s an awesome book. I got it from a library booksale several years ago.
Yeah, that’s probably where my love of the name came from too. The novella I’m editing at the moment for my blog serial story actually has the main character called Wolfe, but…[Read more]

I like R names too! *whips out the baby names book which is kept at the end of the bed in case of emergency character namings* Brace yourself.
I super love the names Roy and Rowan, I don’t know why, they’re just awesome. Also, Ren, Raidon, Ransome, Ramin, Raven, Raymond, Rivers, Rolf, Ryu….etc, etc.
In other names that don’t…[Read more]

@rochellaine I guess K does have a nice ring to it, I like the name too. it wasn’t even meant to be shortened to Kai, it just happened. I think actually, his name being Malakai at all and being shortened to Kai can be attributed to Catwing…maybe? I was going to call him Malachi, but I thought it sounded really old fashioned, and Catwing liked…[Read more]

@alia See, that I do not understand at all. But anyway, we can put aside our differences and be twins. 😀
Yes, I usually am. I might see you tomorrow?
Well, the best way to make a rebellion not cliché is to kill absolutely everyone and for it to fail miserably, because that never happens in YA literature.

I think that, apart from our disagreements over Legolas and Frodo, we could be the same person, because my music intake consists solely of musicals and Casting Crowns.
Ahah, no, it’s not me. @rochellaine and I live (literally) half a world away, across many seas and distant shores. That sounded very poetic.

I’ve never properly fainted before, but my brother did once and I tried to catch him and ended up lying on top of him. That was where the inspiration for Quillon being super romantic and catching Sapphire and ending up on the floor came from.
I definitely will give Quillon and Kai some father/son time (what is it about the name…[Read more]

I’m planning on having a young girl with chronic pain in the sequel to Stars Fill Infinity. I think my inspiration for her came from a time when I was suffering a lot of pain all the time (I wouldn’t call it chronic, and thanks to some physiotherapy and lifestyle changes it’s gotten a lot better, but it was bad at the time), so I h…[Read more]
