The only book I can think of right now is The Count of Monte Cristo. I haven’t read it yet, but I really really want to.

@Daeus — Ooh, I’d love to be part of this! Only thing is, I won’t be able to participate in any of the discussions on fantasy-type books, but if that’s okay… I’ll participate in as many others as I can to make up for it. 🙂

Some houses have little swinging cat doors as part of the back door. You could have the family forget to latch it, or maybe, if they just moved in, they are unaware that the door exists.
