@rochellaine 😀 😀 XD He does. He’s already come up with commentary to expound upon it. “It is possible, with dignity, to sweep a carpet. It is possible to trade with coins. But there is no dignified way to melt a chair but by the flames of a dragon.”
Wow 😀 That is a long one, yourself. XD I have read the Cat in the Hat! And it’s one of my…[Read more]

@daughteroftheking Ok, I will pray that its pain-free, and everything goes good

@dekreel 😀 😀 Thanks! I had no idea you would like it that much. XD It was fun to write. Stan and Meeple are fun characters
@rochellaine 😀 Oh, I was thinking of putting a nice tragic ending in. But something stopped me at that last minute and I let them live pretty much happily ever after
@supermonkey42 😀 Wow. Stan will be ecstatic over that…[Read more]

@ethryndal Queen of Gondor? 😀 You forget who you are… Queen of Lothlorien, more like.
Unless you were planning on adding Gondor to your realm… didn’t think of that.

Twas the night before Thursday
When Stan was reciting philosophical truths
Nonsensical tidbits of no real use
From various sages, Aristotle and–who?
Names I could not understand
They confounded my head
I told Stan “Stop, or I’ll pound you instead”
But all of my threats were to no avail
It’s hard dealing poundings to beasts with…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic So… scary thought… I might write a children's story in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@daughteroftheking 😀 That sounds like something I would haved loved as a kid. Twevle years as a protagonist is easily doable, too. For some reason I was imagining you were going to try businessmen as MCs or something, when you said mostly adult. I totally think, especially with a fantasy world like that, you can fill it with wonder and children…[Read more]

@daughteroftheking 9-13 as a target audience, you shouldn’t have to dumb it down much. Unless I just had odd reading habits, but The Hobbit was something I would have read 9-10, and Percy Jackson/Eragon at 11-13.
I do think it might be hard for kids to connect to an adult cast, but not undoable. As a kid, I used to like to latch onto protagonists…[Read more] -

@ethryndal This a tough one. I remember my themes changing constantly when I first began writing, because I didn’t have much idea of theme.
XD I wish I could tell you how I worked it out, but I got rid of all those stories cause they were awful.
Like Daeus said, all those themes seem related to one another, so you choose to broaden them and make…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Self-Doubt… in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@dekreel It’s so hard to feel like that, sometimes. You pick up your pen, and you want to create things. And then the monsters come back, your doubts and fears, telling you that you aren’t good enough. That there’s no hope.
And suddenly, you’re paralyzed by fear. Comparing yourself to other writers can be amazingly painful. Know that God is…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 😀 It was really. Epic.
Kylo and Rey shipping? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Okay though
Yeah, I was not one of the shippers. Apparently several others who saw the movie thought that it would be a good idea for them to get into the same spaceship… thus the word ‘shipping’
I mean they are both force users and it kinda makes sense and they…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Unlikable Protagonist? in the forum Characters 6 years, 9 months ago
@introvert_girl
Character likability runs along a few different lines, and three of them are:
Proactivity
and
Likability in the story
and
DisabilityIf a character’s proactive, and strives to accomplish his or her’s goals, they’re going to be mor elikable. If other characters in the story like them (which it sounds like might be part of your…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Best Cover Designs in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@mnvalentine Distinctive artwork, that stands out and also connects with the story. always seems to make a great cover to me. Covers that sort of seem generic and rely on a lot of explosions/shiny lines to get your attention don’t seem memorable, for example:
The cover is cool, but not memorable. (An awesome book,…[Read more]
