@mark-kamibaya If you like tragedies, then you would probably enjoy Lawrence of Arabia. Film-wise, it was very well done, in my opinion. I’ve heard people say that it’s long and boring; that is not the case. It’s very well done.
And about Braveheart- my parents say there’s pornography in it, so be careful.

@Rebelutoinary The conference was so much fun! I took some of my girls, and two of them really liked it and want to get involved in a Bright Lights group. I am so excited for them!

@Rebelutoinary I just came back from the first day of the conference. It’s amazing! Thank you so much for introducing me to this! I got connected with the leader of the Lichtfield Park group, and she offered to help train me to become a leader if I wanted! I am very excited. Today I just went with my mother, but tomorrow I will be taking five of…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy A few years ago I looked for that historian’s work on the Internet. Apparently, his works are long out of print, but they do still exist as collectors’ items- very expensive, of course.

@emma-flournoy At that time, I believe there was still quite a bit of information about him. Henty cited his sources in his preface; there was one historian in particular whose name I cannot remember.

@emma-flournoy The history itself is so inspiring, I forget my objections to his style and find myself caught up in the wonder of it all. I love Scotland, and besides, I can’t help but admire someone when they, alone and without even the hope of succeeding, stand up against the might of a foreign invader because they love their country, and no one…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy I didn’t know it was about William Wallace! Now I want to read it. Have you read In Freedom’s Cause by Henty? I don’t like most Hentys, but that is one of my favorite books.

@Winter-rose I haven’t seen Old Fashioned. Thank you for telling me about it! I’ll try to find it. I’ve been wishing that there was a good movie that I could recommend to my friends who don’t understand courtship; maybe that will be it. 🙂
@emma-flournoy I haven’t read Scottish Chiefs, but more than one person has told me to read it. What is it about?

@dragon-snapper I really wanted to go to Patrick Henry College a year ago, and it seemed like they have good courses for writers. It looks like an awesome place, especially for homeschoolers. The only thing is, their entrance requirements are very strict, and they put a heavy emphasis on having read the Greek and Roman classics. I couldn’t qualify…[Read more]

@bluejay @aratrea @dragon-snapper Yep, they’re squished all right. It must be my device; I’m using an original old iPad, and maybe its age is starting to tell on it. Sorry to bother everyone. 🙂

@emma-flournoy I studied Davy Crockett many years ago, (I was homeschooled 🙂 ), and I remember being very impressed by his life. Actually, the first story I ever wrote was about him……wow, that was a long time ago. Anyway, I’ve never watched any movies or read any fiction about him, so I don’t know if the movie is biased or not, but I have a…[Read more]
