Yes, I definitely base characters on people! Usually not purposefully though. I usually just realise, oh! So and so is a lot like so and so.

But I love when those disclaimers are in historical fiction novels, where the characters sometimes are real people.

Maybe authors should start putting disclaimers in the front of their books:

We do not condone the behaviours of any character that seems slightly antagonistic, and nor we do take any responsibility for any of their evil deeds.

I know, poor Curt didn’t deserve anything that I forced him to endure.

People don’t actually expect us to take responsibility for our bad characters, do they?

Well, of course Curt did none of those things. Because he was a small angel. He definitely fell into the disabled angelic character trope that I see so many people complaining about 😛

Haha no. But he might as well be, down to the fact that he’s Irish and has an accent. But he’s a character from a very old book of mine (and don’t even bother asking to read it, because. Nope. No chance. No one is ever reading that thing).

Thank you! I am indeed. And guess what? My mum managed to track down a copy of the 1958 version of A Tale of Two Cities, which I hadn’t been able to find anywhere. I was pretty excited about that.

@rochellaine @ariel-ashira I’m here for a little bit. A short story thing popped up today and the deadline is the 10th. (I don’t have to do it, but the deadline was extended, so I’m thinking of a story idea to fit.)
I was sick for a few days. That’s why I was gone. 🙁
But I’m better now.
