I have 244.
She heard the sleeping Hyunjoo whimpering below and could not help the sickening swell of regret that bloomed in her chest.

Chores remain the same no matter what part of the world we are. 😛 Well, my laundry is all nicely hung now so let me know when you return.

Ah, yes. For my own characters, I usually choose their names based on the meaning and what is fitting (unless I really, really can’t think of anything in particular and go with something that just sounds nice). I had a blast researching the meaning of different Korean names.
Well, Myeongwol is still miserable as well so don’t worry…[Read more]

Hi! Oh, it’s been a while since I last heard about Bathshua (that is still her name right? Because I thought you were thinking of changing it). How’s she doing? Still miserable?
Haha the concern you and @seekjustice have for what Myeongwol is up to is really cute. That sentence really had unfortunate implications, didn’t it? 😛 But…[Read more]

I won’t be on today but will likely be tomorrow since there’ll be a day off. 😀
Just dropping by to clarify: No, of course Courageous won’t be whipping anyone into shape. I meant that Juqing could probably whip Courageous’ court into shape. That or just replace them all.
A happy ending? Oh dear, is that a spoiler? 😛

I thought there was. The writing in ROF wasn’t bad but I thought it was rather lackluster compared to QOD. It wasn’t as funny and wasn’t really distinctive. Its an older work isn’t it? I’d say your voice has probably just improved.
I’m sure its been established that Courageous needs whipping into shape himself and is probably not capable…[Read more]

Yeah, well, it’s just 3 chapters. Though I have written 7 chapters for ROF, I posted only the first 3. But, really, there was a difference in the writing? I thought my writing for QOD was similar to this. Maybe I’ve improved? 😛
Well, but it’s not as though courtly love is an actual force that governs the universe, right? So he…[Read more]

I liked it and I definitely think it has potential but I think it would need to be rewritten. The writing didn’t seem as good as in QoD and the characters didn’t seem as well developed, but maybe that’s just  because its shorter.
Courageous’s court, was what I meant. It basically goes round on the ideals of courtly love.
Yes, I suppose so. I…[Read more]

Haha so what did you think of this old draft of mine?
Courageous court? What is that?
If Courageous would run away to Antarctica, wouldn’t that mean that he definitely wouldn’t like Juqing?

SeekJustice replied to the topic Writers' Corner #21 in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 6 months ago
Well, I don’t think Juqing would like Courageous and he certainly wouldn’t like Courageous court. Whether Courageous would like Juqing or not, I’m not sure.
And yes, I think Juqing would definitely bully Courageous, and Courageous would probably run away to Antarctica.

All right then, let me know whether Courageous would be bullied by Shu Juqing, specifically, and whether he would actually like to have him as a brother. Or to have the Emperor as a father. 😛

I requested access 😀
I thought we came to the conclusion that he would be bullied horribly. But, the poor boy is bullied anyhow, so its just a matter of whether it would be better or worse.

All right here’s the thread. As I said, please note that I have changed the story and the background of the characters since but this old draft should give you a rough idea.
Let me know whether Courageous would or wouldn’t be bullied horribly if they were brothers. 😛

There’s exceptions to every rule. But the time jumps are less noticeable in the book than the movie/musical because there’s so much extra stuff in there.
Honestly, I think its one of those tools that can be used very well and effectively, but often isn’t.
Most certainly 🙂

Didn’t Les Mis have, like, two time jumps but still manage to be a book you really like? 😛
Time jumps to me are an effective tool to bring out lots of subtext since the reader knows what happens before, what happens after but the middle is a great unknown which they can fill up using their own imagination. Of course, that is…[Read more]

Huh, they’re all out of whack. That’s really weird.
Yeah, I think there would be people who wouldn’t enjoy your style, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it.
I have seen people do those time jumps in published books, personally I’ve never really liked it, but that could just be me. Still, I think you can make it work.

You can’t have finished reading QOD because QOD is not even finished yet. 😛 But in general, what do you think?
Haha hoped I did not distract you too much from your NaNo. How’s that going? 🙂

Mayhaps you really are a time traveller. According to these posts, you’ve answered my question before I even asked it.
Ah, yes, I think my writing style is very strange. In fact, I think a lot of things about me as a writer are strange. I am puzzled by a lot of the ideas I come up with sometimes and have to ask myself, “Is this…[Read more]
