@valtmy Yeah, sorry, I really haven’t been on top of my beta work for a while. SeekJustice sent me her part three several days ago, and I haven’t even read half of it, while I usually read her stuff straight through day of or next day. And I didn’t get to Jen’s book until a couple of weeks after she finished it, I think.
So, if I don’t get to i…[Read more]

@seekjustice Haha, okay. I thought that it was set during the French Revolution. I don’t know a lot of French history, mostly where French history interconnected with the history of other countries. What exactly happened in the 1830s that Les Mis was set during that period?
Okay, so about Jean leaving Chessy in the trench, yeah, he should pr…[Read more]

@seekjustice Um, yeah, but children’s rights hadn’t been discussed yet in the 1700s…
Setting your story in the present day/future means that the cultural things won’t all match up with the circumstances in Les Mis. Such as the thing I talked to you a long time a go about, with Sapphire being looked down upon, which is not so much a thing…[Read more]

@valtmy No, you weren’t making it too obvious, it worked fine for me. 😉
Oh, oh! Haha, I’m so sorry! I just realized how that sounded. I didn’t mean that you don’t understand jokes unless they’re explained to you. I meant that you prefer more realistic circumstances, as you were pointing out how the nurses and doctor didn’t act prof…[Read more]

@valtmy I’m not sure…I think it was the part about the party where she was talking to all her brother’s friends and embarrassing herself by not knowing the meaning of the poetry. 😉
Anyway, we’ve already established that we enjoy different types of humor, right? 😛 You need to have your humor carefully explained and diagramed, while I prefer…[Read more]

@seekjustice I’m starting chapter 20 now, and in the opening of that Justice is telling Chessy she is supposed to be at home, as usual. 😛 Then Jonas looks at Justice to make him shut up, also as usual. 😛
However, I was wondering, of course Jonas would tell Justice not to be so harsh, but Justice is just trying to protect Chessy, so why is he…[Read more]

@seekjustice I’m here now! How’s it going? I think I’m finally going to read the rest of the third part of the second draft of your first book…I love the way that sounds…before I get back to my own book. 😀
@catwing Your WIP sounds interesting, but I’ve been waiting for three years for you to write Firebird… 😛
Just kidding, though. I…[Read more]

@seekjustice @valtmy Haha, I have been thinking about Nes so much I thought he had a longer scene. I see I was wrong. 😛 But thanks for the input. In answer,
No, she’s not going on a long journey, she’ll be coming home pretty soon, so living in the same town with Nes, (at least during the beginning of the book,) she’ll probably see him ag…[Read more]

@seekjustice Contemporary is very fun! You should definitely try it sometime. Mh, that would be cool. I’m not much into ancient history, which I find quite depressing as a general rule, but I got so excited about this story I decided to write it anyway. 😉
Haha, I suppose I’ve become desensitized. I’ve had a brothers/male cousins for all of…[Read more]

@valtmy Actually, I am continuing with the story right now. That’s the one I’m working on for camp nano this July. 😉 Dunno whether I’m disciplined enough to get a lot done, but it’s going pretty well. Or pretty badly, if you consider that she’s in a much worse situation now than she was at the end of the part you read. 😛
Yes, I’m not su…[Read more]

@seekjustice I love research! But since I think it will take an extremely long time to research for this project and I really want to write it now, I’m going to do the research later. I know the culture very well, since it’s very similar to my dad’s culture, and I’ve compared and contrasted the cultures a lot, and that’s what I need most for t…[Read more]

@valtmy I’m glad you like it! Ohhh…much more trouble! 😛 You won’t believe what happens in the next couple of paragraphs. I mean, for a normal author, yeah, but for a character-coddler like me, my poor little girl is breaking my heart!
Bathshua is a mouthful to say, but not as much for me…as you say your heroine’s name is from your cu…[Read more]

@valtmy Yeah, totally fine. 😛 Different cultures. Anyway, the word people usually would use in polite company here would be the milder form with the same meaning which starts with “c”. As you can see, I don’t even use that one, but I have a few friends who do, and it’s totally not considered bad, like the other one is. 😉

@valtmy Sure, you can read it. I’ll give you the link to the opening, which is what I showed SeekJustice. It’s purely unedited, and I don’t want comments right now, other than stuff like “that sounds interesting” or “that’s a kinda weird idea.” 😛 An…[Read more]

@seekjustice Hi! I’m falling asleep, so I probably won’t be on much longer. Terrible for my poor heroine, though, since she’s stuck in a horrible situation, and since I’m not used to writing horrible situations I can’t get her out of it… 😮 😛

@valtmy Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I’m talking about Bathshua from Daughter of Judas, so she’s nearly the same age as your MC, perhaps a little older, but I think she would definitely look down on your character as stupid and annoying. 😛 However, right now she’s in a tough place where she’d be thankful for any kindness, and your c…[Read more]
