@kate-flournoy What is Little Dorrit about? I’ve heard of it before, but I can’t remember where.

I like the way you incorporated the Scripture into the story- especially at the climax. -

@daeus That’s so sad. I’m praying for you.

Praying for you, @daeus , that sounds tough … you know it’s probably not your story’s fault. Some people like to read about murder and such, and some don’t.
I enjoy reading murder mysteries, myself. 🙂 When it comes to the actual murder, though, I’d really rather be told about how it must have happened than have it described to me while it…[Read more]

I’m new around here…and I thought it might be in order to post one of my short stories to give y’all a bit more of an idea of what type of writer I am. Granted not everything falls into the same “historical fantasy” category as Leviathan, but it seems to be what I gravitate towards in my short stories. I wrote this sometime last year and it is…[Read more]

@gretald The two historical fiction books I’ve read by Sir A.C. Doyle were “The White Company” and “Sir Nigel”. “Sir Nigel” is actually first (they are a series), but was written second. I read them one right after another and I could see that, but it didn’t bother me much. 🙂 I actually don’t know if he wrote any others.

I also like serious historical movies, like Valkyrie, which is about Claus Stauffenberg’s plot to kill Hitler (@kate-flournoy You’ve seen that one, right?), and Jean La Pucelle, which is a French movie about Joan of Arc, extremely accurate and very well done, plus it’s in French which makes it doubly awesome.

@Rolena-Hatfield Aha! I wondered why they were using knives instead of revolvers. While I don’t know if that sentence is gramatically impossible, you switch subjects halfway through the sentence without warning, which is a little confusing. I think it would be less confusing if you said “he reached out and clutched the cards, causing a cold sweat…[Read more]

@Michael-Stanton My favorite thing about the forum is just being able to interact with all the people; I’ve taken a break from writing, so I don’t use it for that right now. I can’t think of anything that I don’t like or that I wish was different. It’s awesome.

@Brandon-Miller Yay, another KP staff person! It’s nice to meet you. (p.s. my tag is @Sarah-h; the -oven gets deleted.) You do learn the tags pretty quickly; it’s not as hard as it seems.

@rebelutoinary Hmmm…flcsagr(at)mailaka(dot)net. I replaced the @ and the . with the written words because supposedly it’s a spam-protection measure. Wonder why it’s not working? (And I am not your resident tech support. 😉 Unfortunately, I’m not as savvy as I might like to be…)

@gretald I’ve seen those! Fireproof is my favorite; Courageous is too sad, and I was so mad at the ending because Shane was my favorite character. I do like Javier, though, so I can’t say I don’t like the movie. Have you seen their first movie, Flywheel? It’s not the same quality, being a first movie, but I still really like it.
The music in…[Read more]

@rolena-hatfield Yes, more! 🙂 This is great. Does this story take place in England or America? It seems like a Wild West setting; is it? There is one sentence that looks like a mistake:
“He reached out and clutched the cards a cold sweat running down the back of my spine.” I don’t see anything else. -

@rebelutoinary Oops. I really was off the beam. I got a couple of the letters mixed up! The first part is flcsagr. Sorry about that. :}
@gretald Well, I really like O. Henry’s short stories. And I guess I’m rather partial to classic fairytales or similar stories–as might be evidenced by the fact that a good number of my own short stories (which…[Read more]

October Baby is one of my favorites. (It’s about abortion.) The way they developed the theme and characters is really well done. One Night with the King is really good, too; it’s about Esther. Oh, and I just watched Prince of Egypt for the first time a few days ago. I didn’t know it was possible for an animated video like that to make me cry, but…[Read more]

@gretald Haha! That sound worth reading. My favorite is Henry V, mostly because of Pistol and the Welshman. And it has a happy ending, unlike the tragedies. I know Hamlet was supposed to be sad, but I thought it was very funny. It’s probably my second to favorite one.
