Ooh, I’ll look into that! However, I don’t find MBTI itself inaccurate/unreliable. Just the online tests. =P I don’t even use tests anymore, I just study up and put characters and people through heavily researched “tests” of my own. I’ve found that way much more reliable. (Though, granted, I have never actually paid to take the…[Read more]

  • I am an OYANer but I have very little else to add that someone hasn’t already said. =P

I enjoyed OYAN and I think it’s a very good launching pad for beginning writers. Helps put the nebulous idea of writing a novel into a more concrete and understandable format and helps get you writing consistently. It is geared toward high schoolers and, I…[Read more]

Haha, that’s great! Yeah, it’s fun to put personality types with different genders or roles that the type is generally found in. Adds some automatic interest, at least for me. =D
And I know what you mean about writing extraverted being exhusting! XD I had a male ENFP (also sort of a strange combination =P) and he was very difficult for…[Read more]

Oooh, I really enjoy using MBTI for characters and typing family and friends (though, I’ve found the tests to be generally inaccurate so I usually just study up on whichever one I think someone is for myself).

My first MC was an INTP like me, and my current one is an ENTP like my dad. XP I’ve discovered that I have a hard time writing Feelers…[Read more]

You think someone who runs Go Teen Writers would be interested in sharing it on their site maybe? Didn’t read all the posts before this one, so I dunno if this has been suggested already or if you’re still looking for answers at all. =P But whatever.

    1. I usually do a basic outline then use my first draft as a kind of outline when it’s done. I guess I only outline the highlights, the things that are absolutely necessary to give me direction, then wing it from there. =P

    2. Doesn’t take me long… a few days? Maybe a week or two if it’s really difficult?

    3. I use Microsoft word for…[Read more]

Haha, I guess we’ve got the best of both worlds here, then! =D

Hm, yes, I can see that. I guess this is where the debate comes in about turning the other cheek too. =P Like, if you capture the guy who keeps trying to kidnap your daughter, and turn him over to the authorities, but they’re corrupt and just keep letting him go, saying…[Read more]

That makes sense. What if the government is corrupted or has strayed from that purpose? What if the offender is let free because of a bribe or something, and you know that they’re going to do something terrible, but the corrupted authorities refuse to act? Is it wrong to step into the role that isn’t being properly filled in this…[Read more]

  • Also, what if you have a person who exacts revenge not so much out of anger, but out of a sense of justice? What if they track down a terrible person who keeps slipping from the law and kill them out of a mixture of justice and revenge? Is it wrong to take justice into our own hands? I guess this ties into being a vigilante. Is that wrong? XD I’m…[Read more]

  • @kate-flournoy @audrey-caylin

I see, that all makes sense. So the only thing that makes it justice and not revenge is if the person exacting the justice is working within a judicial system organized by other people? Where does their authority to have someone executed come from? (Of course, I don’t know that this it’s practical to take it all the…[Read more]

  • What do you guys think about revenge storylines?

Like, do you think it’s wrong for someone to kill a terrible person because of what they’ve done to them in the past? I know a lot of storylines like that end with forgiveness and giving up the revenge, while many (lots of westerns) end with the person exacting their revenge, then moving on with…[Read more]

No prob! Thanks for finding it again. =P

Ahhh, I see that this is science I need to do some more study on… XP I’d read/heard somewhere that there were multiple kinds of ‘amnesia’ and most were only temporary memory loss, but I’ll look into it further and try to sift facts from myths. Since my book is futuristic and they’re using…[Read more]

Ah, sci fi. I have a strange relationship with this genre. It’s not my favorite to read or watch, but it’s the main one I find myself pulling elements from to write with. XD
I don’t have good answers to most of these questions except book recommendations (and even those aren’t hard sci fi):

Patrick W. Carr’s “The Staff and the Sword” trilogy was a really refreshing fantasy to me. =) Also “The Scarlet Pimpernel” (not fantasy) was really good.
