@daeus Basically because I do believe that it will make the antagonist deeper and better than before. His character arc (and theme really) ties into the story well, so I wanted to do so.

@dragon-snapper Yep. The more developed an antagonist is, the more likely he’s going to have a character arc. We’ll be discussing that in a bit more detail later on in the series, but the short answer is that either arc type can work–it all depends on the specific story you want to tell!

@dragon-snapper Haha, we did mention it in the video, but I think it’s a great example of catharsis! Setting up the end of the story with hope for the rest of the series was a great way of handling catharsis in that movie.

@aratrea Would be against the rules to say your example of Star Wars episode 3? That one really is a great example, the catharsis with Luke and Leia was perfect. I think I like that movie better now that I understand it better.

Top marks to you, @rachelle, for actually having a reason to use a cliche! It’s a pretty interesting twist on a familiar story. Personally, I’d get turned off fast if you had boring characters or didn’t have a theme-glimmer (as Daeus said) to give a sense of the story. I got the Golden Deer Classics edition on Kindle for CoMC. The read was very smooth, and worth every one of the 117 chapters.
