Don’t you love it when you thought your story was about one thing and then you relize that it is something else.

Thanks for explaining. I think episodic may be a good way to describe your plot structure.

That part from your RP post was ingenious 😂

I feel you in the land of google drawings. I personally love chromeOS (though I do kind of wish I had a newer computer to take full advantage of it). Once you know how to activate dev mode things become much more interesting…

I totally understand the whole scene feeling. Honestly sharing ideas is super useful because it can help with tweaking stuff.
It is also just now that I realised I don’t actually know what your series is about. Would you mind explaining (or like giving a back of the book for the first one)?

I would say that I could definitely do it (though I have not read the first draft). The only thing is my schedule so I can’t promise it would be achievable in a timely fashion.

I will say that in relation to what @whalekeeper said on getting overwhelmed it has been that in my experience plotting really helps. I personally (and I know you aren’t really that big for plotting) feel that it is really useful to have an idea as to what your book is going to be about. Now if you are slightly confused about…[Read more]

I totally agree with you on that. That is definitely one of the things I like in dark fantasy. I also remember reading an interview on one of those sites like IGN with the guy who writes Game Of Thrones about that exact topic. It was a while ago and I think it was specifically related to some thing called the Red Wedding (I only know…[Read more]

I have a couple of ideas that might help.
First I completely second what @sarafini said about writing every day but it definitely helps to just try to make a habit of writing (especially early on trying this go small, pick a time you generally have time and make that a writing time (ie an hour on Saturdays (and if you cant have a…[Read more]

I can agree.
@everyone
Also for anyone still reading this:
What are some villains you have read or seen (and have not already been mentioned) that you think we could learn from?

Also, don’t worry about your post length. I feel that it is better to explain stuff in a long post than not explain it well in a short post.

I will have to disagree with some of your points because I personally don’t feel that it is necessary to have clear-cut lines between good guys and bad guys. I think that as long as you show which actions characters take that are bad as bad and the actions they take that are good are good it is not necessary to have your…[Read more]

I can totally relate to the bibliography. I just finished one for my own paper which was also coincidentally on a dictators rise (specifically Hitler’s).
Also the floaty thing happens to me a whole lot. I feel that is a good way to describe it. I usually just think of it as going to Kharvia but I agree that a tiny part o…[Read more]

Also is there any real point in reading the last KOTLC book (like does it just continue to kind of dully spiral). I probably won’t get to it for a while (like until summer break) but I was going to read it when we thought it was the last one just to finish the series but now that I know it isn’t (I looked at some spoilers) I am pretty sure I am…[Read more]

Fon’t worry about me giving you any Keefe hate. I understand what it is like when not everyone agrees with you on a character (though most people including my sister do like Keefe). I just liked Fitz and Sophie more and felt like the potential for that relationship and the story it could tell was being sacrificed for the typical l…[Read more]

I will agree with a lot of what you said but….
I dislike the specific villain you mentioned and felt that character and ark were badly handled. That is one of the main reasons I quit KOTLC because I felt that the plot got bad after around the middle. I just felt that it stagnated and that Shannon Messanger didn’t do the…[Read more]

I definitely agree with you on it depending on the story and villain as to what exactly makes them best.
I definitely favour the complex villains and the villains that we can sympathize with as a reader.

Completely agree. I feel we can sometimes forget this because it is easier for our heroes to fight villains like Emporer Palpatine than ones who make us sympathize with them or make us question the actions of the heroes.

I can agree with a lot of what you said. Also, I totally get what you mean about writing villains (I would disagree with the redemption arc being the only way I fall in love with them (more on that later)). The only one of your points I kind of disagree with is 4. I personally feel that sometimes villains without control can be…[Read more] -

Hello. I always like meeting fellow theatre people.
Welcome to KP. I am known as Otherworldly historian because I am a crazy lover of high fantasy/scifi (and they are set in other worlds) (It is also because I like history). I also enjoy theatre stuff (as already assumed) and tabletop gaming.
Now for the customary interrogation…[Read more]
