Okay, this one’s short, and there’s some info-dumping. But ya know, that’s what FiRsT DrAfTs ArE FoR. (I feel like I’m validating myself XD)
This is also probably the last chapter I’m posting on here, for reasons such as plot-changing, editing, and just because the story really begins on the next chapter 🙂

@elishavet-pidyon I love your style so much 😍😃 Could you tell me your story’s premise? (… And maybe some more snippets?) I’m genuinely intrigued.

I agree with @e-m-trepke that it’s important for your MCs to have clear motivations. There’s this other Youtube writer called Abbie Emmons. I highly recommend binge-watching her videos. They’re super fun to watch! She emphasizes character development and teaches you how to apply it to every plot device on the planet. I’ve never looked at plot the…[Read more]

It’s nice to hear that there’s someone else who doesn’t enjoy that series. I’ve only read the first book (starting the second) and there are all sorts of problems. The main character’s specialness, some info-dumping and a few questionable situations – like going off with this boy she didn’t know, keeping stuff from her parents for…[Read more]

@folith-feolin That’s a bucket-load of books 🙂 How far are you into writing them?

Enid replied to the topic Writing growth ruts and what to do about them in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 11 months ago
@folith-feolin That is definitely a valid point, especially with the example you gave. Many deaths don’t have the force they should have because readers have developed an immunity to the “emotion-pulling” technique. A few new formulas are in order.
Also, this is a random rabbit trail, but what is your opinion of Keeper of the Lost Cities?

I’ve never been plateaued before either – I’m honestly still learning everything I can at this point 🙂 – but the first thing that comes to mind is, start something new. It doesn’t need to be wildly different, like switching from fiction to non-fiction. Just a story that has a different voice or style of writing.
My writing has…[Read more]

Ack, did I really not reply to this?? *Facepalm* XD
@rose-everdeen Yes, the process of an art is always fascinating 😉 Wow, you’ve definitely thought through it! I never would have guessed it was your first time, from the way you described it. Sounds organized. Is it a long project?
(AND YES, PLACEHOLDERS DO MAKE SENSE XD I actually have…[Read more]

This one’s a bit more intense (in case some of y’all don’t like that sort of thing) and rather confusing… XD But it was fun to write.

@ava-blue I love how distinct your style is 😀 Like, I can easily tell if a drawing is yours or not. Plus some of your characters have almost long faces, which is really cool, because most artists go with a rounder style – but then again, I bet you do both. Good job 😉

Oh, that’s no biggie, *waves hand* everyone does that. You have to start with daydreaming anyway, and if you’re here, that means progress 😀 And to be honest, most of my projects are just daydreams as well.
That’s good. Quiet is important.
Here’s a random question, since this topic isn’t catching on: if you could match your characters…[Read more]

This is sorta vague, but I’ve been wondering what y’all’s processes are. How fast do you go from daydreaming to writing? Do you daydream at all? Do you write a first draft real quick and edit afterward? Or are you on the slower side, editing as you go? Ooo, and do you have a writing ritual?
I’m one of those people who nit-picks over every…[Read more]

Enid replied to the topic Writing out of chronological order? in the forum Plotting 3 years, 11 months ago
It depends on how immersed I am, and how much random-scene writing I’ve already done. I think it’s a balance. Personally, if I’m not particularly inspired to write a certain section, I’ll write something more emotional, and it gets me in the mood. On the other hand, it’ll get to a point where I’m just avoiding the rougher sections.…[Read more]

Enid replied to the topic Scene from my WIP, would like to know what you all think! 🙂 in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 11 months ago
1. I’m not used to omniscient POV, but once I figured it out it went smoothly 😄
2. It was definitely obvious to me that it is a brother-sister kind of thing, like Koshka said. Since I don’t see this relationship as often in fiction anymore, applause to you!
3. Just a little, but I wouldn’t remove it completely. Maybe spread it out thinner,…[Read more]

Asdfghjkl… *unintelligible noises, frantic looking through the pages of my mind*
😅 I’m not quite sure a normal human life exists in this world. Even his backstory is foggy to me. I know where he used to live, and it’s not… unpleasant, but it’s still controlled by giants. I’m sure there’s some distant location in the world w…[Read more]

@mineralizedwritings Thank you! ❤ When you put it that way, maybe it’s YA instead. I usually write middle grade, and because Axel’s thirteen, I just put it in that catagory. I’m intending violence, injuries, and possibly death. It’s obviously in that darker territory. However absolutely no swearing or gross stuff.
