haha, thanks! I guess she’s based on yours truly *bows, then hesitates, evaluates character, and wonders if I actually paid myself a compliment or not… *
First of all… I LOVE the name Keaton! second, his dialogue seems to fit. I suppose just keep his lines short, don’t have him using too many please n’ thank you’s and keep…[Read more]

You’re welcome! 🙂 the story sounds so intriguing, and I’m sure it’ll be epic, whatever you decide!

haha!! Great idea!! And I’d say your MCs dialogue fits.
My sci fi book MC is shy in big groups but stubborn and has her opinions and likes to bug her brother
her first three lines in the story:
(Omits action) Alden, stop it! I hit in here five minutes ago!”
(Omits action) “Good morning. I didn’t burn the house down so that’s encouragi…

@nova21 Ooh I love this! (And your lines of dialogue!)
Here’s mine for Horace, one of my MCs who is a magic-lawyer on good days and a control freak on bad ones. 😛
1) “Enjoying the view?”
2) “I’m sure.” [action tag] “Something on your mind?”
3) “My apologies then,” [action tag] “You just seem rather—“
Yeah. Dealing with his moody teenaged comp…[Read more]

@nova21 Oo cool idea!! Yours are funny XD
My character is kinda bubbly and sarcastic/teasing, so Ladies, here’s Catherine XD:
“It’s the perfect gift for your girlfriend, don’t ya think?”
“How many children will I be the aunt of? Six? Seven?”
“Oh! What if you have all girls! Your home will be amazing. Make sure you invite me over a lot.”

@nova21 Oo, fun! Hard time to find which MC though, haha…
This is for Nan Jinqi, who’s, um, what is he like… He’s quiet and dependable, I think. Quite observant. Hard-working. I don’t know that much about him yet.
1) “Run!”
2) “It was your stupid machine that crashed and burned, [action tag omitted], And who said I was here to stop you?”
3)…

Ooh, interesting! I think that dialogue fits super well for Dylan, especially since the lines are short. That goes well with his strong-willed personality, in my opinion! As for mine… they’re kinda short, so… XD
MC is Felicity, who is (also) strong-willed, stubborn, and tough, though she’s secretly quite caring.
1) “Huh.” (I know,…

*rubs hands together* Yup, I’m sure there’s been a topic about this already, but I’m starting a new one because I
am totallytoo lazy to searchwanted to ask… how do y’all get over writer’s burnout? *dun dun dun* So after finishing my novel, Last of Her Kind, the author side of me has been feeling super bummed about what I write and I’ve just be…[Read more] -

@nova21 I like this idea! Unfortunately I never plot out my character arcs so I can’t help you with that. Best of luck, though. I believe one time someone told me that an overarching theme for a series + individual themes for each book is good, so I think that could work the same with arcs. Maybe for the next book focus on something more…[Read more]

Maybe during the course of the series there could be a goal he’s striving to achieve. I know it’s getting home, but will the getting home stretch over the whole thing, or just one book? If it’s a single book, then maybe give him a larger goal, like to find the meaning of what it’s like to know you’re loved, but make it a development that…[Read more]

@nova21 First off, can I just say I love that idea for a story??? I would totally read that!!
A few weeks ago, I actually had an idea come to me about ending book one and starting book two. It’s like doing a gradient in painting. You want each book to have it’s own color, but the end of book one needs to be blending into the ‘color’ of book…[Read more]

That story is actually amazing. The creativity is unmatched.
Who else write a story where the population is turning into vegetables?
Now I’m curious about how all these characters fit together in one story.
Also, chocolate covered raisins are underrated.

well i like it!! the idea is very cool and sounds like you have an amazing story in the making!
I’d say you could probably continue his lie through the series as long as you have a way for it to be easily triggered, and words can do that. If he believes/believed he’s unloved, there would be insecurity. When people are insecure, comments…[Read more]

Thanks for the tag! In my opinion, you should have one character arc for each book. That doesn’t mean your character has to be perfect in that area after the story, but the arc should be resolved by the end as it’s more satisfying. I hope that helps!

I’m relatively new to science fiction writing but I’m really getting into the genre. Your WIP sounds great and mine is really similair on a basic level.
