@seekjustice My mom was really careful when I was younger about things that featured daughters rebelling against their dads. I wasn’t allowed to watch The Little Mermaid for the same reason (which I don’t mind; I’m not a huge fan of Ariel now that I have watched the movie, lol). Once I was a little older (10-12-ish, maybe?) she thought I’d be…[Read more]

@gracie-j That seems like a strange divide. I wasn’t allowed to read The Horse and His Boy for several years, but that was the only Narnia book I wasn’t allowed to read.
Yes! I’ve read his Cooper Kids series (4-6 are my favorites; I’ve reread 5 many times) and his This Present Darkness books. I’ve been meaning to reread This Present Darkness for…[Read more]

@gracie-j *gasp* Nancy Drew was my childhood. I read so much Nancy Drew, Boxcar Children, Happy Hollisters, Mandie… But I was also given pretty free rein of my family’s library, ’cause I jumped straight from reading those to reading certain (parent-approved) adult fantasy when I was seven. XD

I totally forget what my first rambly paragraph was about, but it was rambly and probably not all that important.
Second paragraph was also rambly, but it was about my books. I have three:
- The Mirror-Hunter Chronicles
- Short Story Collection vol. 1
- Lost Girl
They’re all under R.M. Archer. Short Story Collection vol. 1 is the most…[Read more]

I just watched AtLA for the first time last month, and as someone who was expecting the typical kids show, (or just any tv show for that matter), it blew my expectations right out of the water. Particularly with what you mention with Zuko’s character arc. I love the thought and care the writers put into him and the entire story.…[Read more]

This is an awesome idea! I’ve been in sort of a short story writing spree the past couple months so this is perfect. And doing this post Christmas is also a great idea to have something to look forward to, (and give us more time to write the short stories). XD

@gracie-j Thanks for the tag!
Yep, you should be able to find a link to my work in the interview.

@godlyfantasy12 Ah I’m not usually on this thread…sorry…but I’m hoping to- (write consistently but I’ve already failed) and finish my current project by the 31st, as well as finish up all of the short ideas I had. As soon as I get this all done…

@lewilliams This sounds like a great idea! As I already have started several short stories I’d be glad to participate.

@godlyfantasy12 Oof I’m late ahhh….
But yea take my late encouragement. When I started five years ago I wanted to be published, but now when I look back I’m glad I worked so hard to get to where I am now, boosting my confidence in being published in the future. Some days it’s really hard to write, so doing a warm-up beforehand can help a lot.…[Read more]

I love bullet journaling! I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, and it’s the perfect mashup of both my love for organization and doodling! Plus, they’re super fun to look back on and remeber where you were years ago.
My favorite bullet journaling YouTuber is AmandaRachLee. She’s great if you want some bullet journal ideas…[Read more]

Exactly! I don’t just want to write entertaining stories, I want to write stories that last forever.
Haha, yes. I think we’ve all at some point wrote totally spontaneous stories and wrote whatever cool thing popped in our heads first. XD
But like you said, with structure the story ideas can be fully utilized to…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Friend, is this forum psychic or something, because right as I opened up KP, I had numerous tabs right next to it called “how to bullet journal”. See, some family friends gave me a dotted journal several years ago, which I’ve been just using to scribble down random things and events, but since several of my friends have really…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I’m actually quite similar to you, Kathleen. When I first started writing I learnt about theme and I was like, “Eh. I just want to write things that people will enjoy.” But now I want to write things that people will think about for a long time.
