@kathleenramm One on my to-watch list would be My Beautiful Bride…the movies I watched I’m not sure of the names because I watched them with Chinese subs haha

I really love Ateez! They have great music and they’re all really sweet guys! Highly recommend.

@merieshenanigans I listen to Ateez, Oneus, A.C.E, WayV, BTS, Noir, Stray Kids, and Monsta…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting Yep! The one I watched was for improving my Korean, which did happen, but we never got to finish it. I kind of want to, but at the same time… What’s the point… xD

Which ones do you listen to now?

  • Kathleen replied to the topic hey, hello, hi in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago

    @merieshenanigans

I usually draw new characters, but my goal is to be able to draw characters from my novel. The reason why I haven’t yet is because when I start, they don’t look like what they imagine them in my head, and give up. XD

*grabs a pencil and shakes it with determination*

But one day I’ll draw sketches of the characters in my novels…[Read more]

@gh24682468999 That sounds awesome! Now I’m really curious 🙂 And it’s great that you’re handwriting it!

(The edit button only seems to appear a few minutes after posting, so I can’t find it…)

  • @michelle

But that’s what writers do! Notice the small but fascinating things in the world that most people overlook.

Being strange is what writers do best.XD

    @leon-fleming

Funny enough yes! I was able to dream about my fictional worlds.

Only occasionally and after many efforts, but when I did the world ended up being a lot more…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans Haha, that’s fine. It seems like a lot of commitment to watch a show. There are several great Korean movies I’ve watched before, though.

I wouldn’t exactly call myself a ‘kpop stan’, as I only stan one group right now (it’s really hard for me to focus on more than one group at a time) but I like to listen to a lot of the songs,…[Read more]

@michelle Apparently! I like kimchi, though xD I think I’ll always prefer musicals to k-dramas! I’ve never heard the movie version, but now I guess I should go and do that.

I got into writing because of Shannon Hale’s Ever After High trilogy, lol. Yeah, I know it’s a pretty cliché beginning for writers to begin with fanfiction, but… *shrug*…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting That is a debatable subject xD I tried learning French once. I think I stopped around the time I got to the numbering system.

I don’t really watch like… any TV shows (I’m a super boring person) so I only know of one k-drama by name, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for lots of cringe-laughs. So…

    I can…[Read more]

@michelle I haven’t heard the full soundtrack, but I will listen to those songs now that you mention them! Mine are “Out There” and “Esmeralda,” I think!

That’s so cool! And wow, Angel is pretty old for a cat– that’s impressive. And that’s a neat story! Does it bring a little more meaning to Christmastime?

My sister and I are 3 years apart–…[Read more]

@gh24682468999 Nice to meet you! May I ask which fairytale(s) you’re retelling?

It’s one of those big crew-of-characters adventure stories! I’ve been working on it for a few months now.

All right, that makes sense. I guess it’s because I don’t technically fit under the official definition of being raised in a different country? It’s…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans Haha you’re currently living in a Chinese-speaking community so I think you have an advantage XD I tried learning German and French once, but I can’t spell German and I can’t pronounce French, so those might have to wait for a future time. I’ve heard that Korean is really easy, which makes it super appealing.

    There are actually…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting That would be really cool! I bet your Chinese is better than mine, haha. I want to learn other languages too, but not all from Asia. (Korean is really easy compared to English and Chinese, in my opinion, so if you’ve gotten this far I think you’d kill it.)

    Do you watch any K-dramas?

Okay, lovely. Looks like I’m doomed, then!

  • Lin replied to the topic hey, hello, hi in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago

@merieshenanigans No, unfortunately. I do want to go someday, though. I know Chinese quite well. I think something cool to do would be to learn all the Asian languages so I can blend in anywhere. Unrealistic, however.

Ooh, I do want to go to Korea as well one day. But for now I guess I’ll just watch Korean movies.

Ahaha at some point you’re…[Read more]

@michelle *gasp* I love that musical! What’s your favorite song from it? I like listening to Hamilton, Les Mis, and Anastasia as well 😛

They sound adorable! How long have you had them?

I have one younger sister! And it’s a funny thing– I’ve been homeschooled only two years, last year and one grade in elementary school, but I’ve been going to…[Read more]

    @devastate-lasting I love Beijing!

Ooh, you’re learning Japanese! I’ve always wanted to visit Japan… Have you been there? And do you know Chinese too?

Korea is a lovely place, with lots of good food, and fun things to do 🙂

And no, I don’t watch anime… Though I keep getting recs from friends who do.

  • Lin replied to the topic hey, hello, hi in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago

@merieshenanigans Ah, Beijing’s where my grandparents live! It’s one of my favorite places.

I’ve been meaning to learn Korean, but I think I’ll try to finish Japanese first. What’s Korea like?

    Do you watch any anime?

  • Merie Shen replied to the topic hey, hello, hi in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago

@kathleenramm I’m glad to be here!

I like to draw characters, too, either from other fandoms or my own! Most of my decent pieces are sketches of everyday things and animals and stuff like that, though. Do you draw characters from your novels or just draw new characters?

Nameless WIPs are just… just sad.

  • Merie Shen replied to the topic hey, hello, hi in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago

@devastate-lasting It’s nice to meet you too!

Yay, that’s so cool! That you’ve visited Shanghai AND that you write by hand. It’s a miracle mine hasn’t fallen off by now. I should learn to write with my left hand, too.

My family has moved around quite a bit… We spent 4 years in America before moving back to Beijing, and now we’re in Shanghai. I…[Read more]

@michelle Sometime, when I have pictures worthy of that!

Haha, it’s not that I don’t like coffee; I just don’t drink it. Actually, I don’t drink anything with caffeine on a regular basis, except the occasional bubble tea, because bubble tea is awesome.

    Hi, Michelle!

I love Andersen’s the best, but I’m a big fan of Perrault and Grimm too. And stories from other places, too. My top favorites… I have too many! I’m an indecisive teenager! But “The Wild Swans” is definitely one of them. 🙂 What’s yours?

I used to live in Beijing (until like, two weeks ago), and it’s a really interesting mash of…[Read more]
