@kate-flournoy @winter-rose @salome01w4g @corissa-maiden-of-praise Oh my! The debate continues. What I’ll probably do is poll my subscribers. So are there any of these you don’t like?
Corissa, it should be out in a little over a month.

@clairec
*peeks in with glittering eyes*
*grins evilly*
*laughs maniacally and brings the roof down in a shower of plaster*I am the wrong person to ask about this. XD My WIP was roughly 535,870 words as a finished second draft. I’m still cutting, but it will never be the length of a ‘normal’ book. 😛
That said, 70,000 sounds about the kind of…[Read more]

@salome01w4g @seekjustice Hey!
So ‘http’ and ‘https’ are names of two protocols (computer rules) that govern how an internet document gets transmitted to your screen.
‘https’ means the web pages are secured against hackers.
So if Google is requiring sites to use ‘https’ I’m guessing they’re trying to protect sites from hackers. But I haven’t…[Read more]

I came up with three more ideas
1. Fools in the darkness
2. The Time Traveler’s Dilemma
3. Key to the futureFor 1 and 3, I would probably have the subtitle “a time travel novel”.

Most YA novels are around 100k.

@clairec A lot of wordcount depends on genre. For a first time author, generally 60-90k is the way to go but some genres like fantasy/sci-fi are more like 90k-110k because of all the additional worldbuilding. My gut is that 80-100k would be fine for “historical fiction” since, like fantasy/sci-fi, there’s a fair bit of background information you…[Read more]

Wow, I didn’t even know there was a tread for this. How funny. These are great! I enjoy looking at them all and seeing how everyone is having fun making them for their characters. I’ll admit I haven’t made any for myself because I have too much fun drawing my characters. But anyway, I’ve popped in and said enough already.;) Great thread. Keep at…[Read more]

A few more collages:
This one is of a popup character in my novel, Fidelyon. His name is Cadoc and @kate-flournoy keeps trying to steal him from me.

This one is one of my side-kick characters, also from Fidelyon

And this is from another project completely.

@salome01w4g I feel ya. 😛 Honestly I stopped deliberately looking… if I see one that looks good I’ll grab it, but it’s rare that they’re ever perfect. XD

@salome01w4g mm. Yeah. Well, I don’t think you’re ever going to find a place that doesn’t have that risk, but I’ve found that Pinterest is generally a safer bet than just plain old google. I’d definitely recommend not extensively searching most stock photo sites (as a cover designer I learned that pretty quick *winces*) because just about anyone…[Read more]
